Position description The PMO is located in ESB's Head Office, Fitzwilliam 27, in the heart of Dublin City Centre, with a sub office in East Gate, Cork. The PMO team have embraced 'Smart Working' and all that entails. Working in the PMO is a great opportunity for Project Management SME's looking to broaden their skillset to further their career, in particular in the area of Project Management. The Project Management Specialist's role is to support multiple projects in getting the project delivered on time and within budget. The Specialist will be assigned a portfolio of projects and will directly support the project manager and project team on the implementation of ESB's Project Management Methodology (PMM). Our specialists are currently supporting varied Programmes & Projects including Substations, Asset Replacement, Overhead and Underground cabling, Renewable connection, Solar farms, Hydrogen generation, Training centre, Fish pass, Water Abstraction licensing, Plant overhauls, eCars Charging hubs, DART+, Wind farms, generation Turbines, etc The Project Management Office (PMO) ensure best project management practices and standards are met, and help the ESB delivery maximum value through it's projects to met Net Zero targets. The Specialist will work with the senior managers, programme management teams , projects managers and the project teams across the business to provide essential project management support to facilitate best practice management of projects. An opportunity is now available for a self-motivated candidate with strong influencing and communication skills, with a proven track record in project management. This role will allow the candidate to increase their knowledge of project management and exposure to projects (Generation and/or Networks) across the ESB Group while interacting with key stakeholders. This will thus provide a great opportunity to the successful candidate to further develop key skills in project management. The successful candidate will also develop a solid working knowledge of ESB's Project Management Information System (PMIS) and ensure project data is up to date. It is widely regarded that PMO experience is a key strength for candidates seeking a future career path in Project Management. Key Responsibilities Stakeholder Management: Building strong relationships with Project stakeholders to assist in expanding the team's services offerings Project Delivery: Working closely with project managers and project teams to support successful project development and delivery. Implementation of PMM processes on all ESB projects. Project Control: Implementing processes for tracking potential risk, issues and opportunities for enabling project decision making Project Monitoring and Reporting: Tracking a project's metrics, progress and tasks to ensure the project will be completed on time and within budget. Monthly reporting to Senior Management and Boards Project Process Improvement: Development and improvement of project processes. Taking ownership of Project Management processes, under guidance of the team. Project Management Expertise: Providing subject matter expertise on project management processes for the PM community across ESB Providing facilitation services ('workshops') as required including: PMM Workshops with the Project Team Project Planning Risk Management Lessons Learnt Stakeholder Management Conducting reviews of the Project Management processes and working closely with stakeholders to look for improvement opportunities Developing Project Management capability within the designated department or business unit Identify new areas of learning and improvement, utilise knowledge gained Experience and Qualifications Essential At least five years' experience of working from own initiative and taking ownership of work/projects Strong knowledge of project management processes and frameworks (e.g.,PMBOK, Prince2) Work in a project environment experience in the construction industry Proven track record of achieving objectives and delivering value for the organisation Proven stakeholder management skills Ability to work and share knowledge and competencies within a team structure Excellent communication, reporting and interpersonal skills Flexibility which is important in all aspects of the role, including travel nationally (and maybe internationally such as UK) Significant experience of working from own initiative and taking ownership of work/projects Proficient in the use of MS Office software suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint) Full clean drivers' licence Desirable Previous project management experience on major construction projects Strong knowledge or experience of projects within the Utilities' sector Previous experience of working in a PMO Interest in process improvement and agile methodologies Project planning and scheduling tools (Microsoft Project / Primavera) Knowledge of Project Management software platforms Understanding and previous experience of developing PowerBi dashboards and integration with other platforms for source information would be an advantage Location This position will be based in Fitzwilliam 27, Dublin 2 or East Gate, Cork.
