The Opportunity:

As a Fire Protection (Sprinkler) Designer, you would be responsible for design and site review of fire protection and life safety systems on building projects in the public and private sector. You will assist with the preparation of engineering drawings and specifications for fire protection sprinkler systems. Additional tasks include assistance with building and fire code analysis review and compliance.

What you can expect to do here:

Assist with the design of automatic fire protection sprinkler systems.

Coordinate with the project team, external vendors, other engineers and architects.

Execute directions as provided by engineers and management.

Gather appropriate resources in order to assist in problem solving.

Communicate engineering design concepts professionally.

Occasional local travel may be required.

Other duties as assigned/required.

What you'll bring to WSP:

Related Bachelor of Engineering degree or Engineering Technology diploma.

3 to 5 years of fire protection and life safety experience.

Knowledge of REVIT and AutoCAD.

Basic knowledge and understanding of NFPA, FM Global, Building and Fire Code Standards.

Competent interpersonal and communication skills.

Proficient self-leadership with attention to detail.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Basic proficiency with technical writing and software.

French language proficiency is an asset.

A working knowledge of hydraulic calculation software is an asset.

To qualify for this role, you must be eligible for Canadian Federal Government Enhanced Reliability clearance.
