Today, we're driving the energy transition with more than 30,000 of the brightest minds across 54 countries.Here, what you do matters.Job Overview:The Electrical Engineer applies their conceptual knowledge of electrical engineering and with a moderate level of guidance and direction from colleagues and leadership, is responsible for solving a range of straightforward electrical problems. They will be responsible for analyzing possible solutions using standard procedures, as well as building knowledge of the company, processes, and customers. The Electrical Engineer understands key business drivers and applies this knowledge to solve problems in straightforward situations through analysis of possible solutions using technical experience, judgment, and precedents.Key Tasks and Responsibilities:Perform FEED, Studies, and detailed design engineering, analysis, and calculations on more complex and demanding engineering tasks.Apply knowledge and skills to complete varied assignments.Prepare clear and accurate detailed design calculations and analyses including design reports and procedures.Prioritize and organize own work to meet deadlines.Focus on completing work within budgets.Communicate and explain information in straightforward engineering activities.Gain familiarity with the project scope of work, specifications, schedule, and all inter-discipline requirements; including identifying concerns as early as practicable.Perform successfully tasks with reduced supervision.Recognize changes to scope and notify the Discipline Lead Engineer.Coordinate work with the design team.Interface with all disciplines to develop clash-free designs.Interface with other departments to obtain input for Discipline designs and drawings.Document substantive communications and forward copies to the Discipline Lead Engineer and Discipline Manager.Prepare electrical specifications for materials and equipment with the guidance of a Senior Engineer.Provide required bid inputs as directed.Prepare sketches of detailed design to guide Designers.Assist procurement personnel in procuring discipline equipment, materials, and services.Review MTOs for requisitions.Provide electrical input for mechanical Package units.Check drawings and engineering performed by others within the Discipline.Review and check vendor and subcontractor submittals for compliance with project specifications.Perform design verification through single-discipline checks and assist with inter-discipline checks.Keep the Lead Engineer apprised of all activities, progress, and concerns.Check final subcontractor and vendor data manuals to ensure that all requested data has been received and approved.Capture Knowledge Objects and enter MDR's K-now system.Develop an awareness of costs related to own work and of the discipline.Initiate and review material lists, P&ID, etc. for Electrical equipment, systems, and services to detailing scope.Prepare updated specifications and data sheets for Electrical equipment and bulk materials.Perform Electrical system studies and calculations.Prepare one-line diagrams and schematics diagrams.Prepare electrical equipment building layout drawings.Prepare lighting calculations and illumination study for the lighting system.Prepare load lists or update load lists issued by the Customer.Participate in FAT & inspection and preparation & resolution of punch lists on arrival of skid or material.Prepare a spare part list.Review the Pre-commissioning and commissioning index and provide technical assistance on-site during pre-commissioning and start-up as required.Review and provide input to secondary cable routing.Prepare cable drum schedules.Prepare area classification documents with the guidance of a Senior Engineer.Identify special tools, equipment, and requirements for commissioning.Coordinate with vendors for installation pre-commissioning and commissioning.Prepare key project deliverables, including (but not limited to):Specifications and DatasheetsElectrical Load ListOne-line diagramsMotor control schematicsElectrical building and equipment layoutsBills of MaterialCable sizing calculationsConceptual studies and calculationsCost and planning studiesSupport Project Development and Coordination, including (but not limited to):Maintain and promote a focus on McDermott's end-product throughout engineering, fabrication, or construction.Report to and coordinate with the electrical engineering project lead and electrical task lead, as applicable.Communicate with electrical and other disciplines of engineering and design.Coordinate and manage change with full awareness of project impact.Assume responsibility for cost, schedule, quantity, and budget control.Develop and review vendor packages, including (but not limited to):Create requisition packages for Substations, Transformers, and Electrical materials.Create subcontract packages for Heat Tracing, Cathodic Protection, and Electrical Installation.Review supplier documents for electrical and non-electrical packages.Attend Inspection and Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) of electrical equipment, motors, and associated skids.Provide Site Support, including (but not limited to):Provide off-site and on-site technical support to Construction personnel.Coordinate with office personnel to resolve issues as needed.Provide technical support for Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) of electrical equipment.Assist with pre-commissioning, energization, commissioning, and start-up, as required by the project.Reports to: Project: Lead EngineerFunctional: Supervising Department ManagerLiaise with: All design/drafting disciplines, all Engineering disciplines, Fabrication group and Document ControlSupervises: Trainee EngineersEssential Qualifications and Education:Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering.3-8 years of experience in oil and gas with a major contractor or consultant predominantly performing detail design.Preferably Registered Engineer in Training (ElT) or member of a professional engineering society.Familiarity with the content and application of standards, codes, and guidelines, including NEC, NFPA, IEEE, and ANSI.Technical knowledge of the detailed design engineering process.Experience with Smart Plant Electrical (SPEL), ETAP, and MS Office Suite including Excel and Word.
