The role of operational manager is to provide leadership of logistics, materials, planning, and manufacturing functions and to manage these tasks directly. The production manager's key challenge is to maintain production within specific guidelines for production efficiency, labor cost, product rework, waste amounts, and control of on-hold product.Key Responsibilities:Maintain resource numbers to meet production requirements for all stations within Saskatoon production.Coordinate training of new operators on relevant stations.Support HR in the recruitment of local resources for Saskatoon production.Generate production schedules based on purchase order requirements.Report production figures and attend production meetings.Monitor and maintain production scrap figures.Generate maintenance schedules for all Saskatoon production equipment.Maintain spare parts list for all Saskatoon production equipment.Monitor and drive health and safety on the shop floor and support health and safety for the facility.Maintain existing production processes, policies and production quality.Design and coordinate Saskatoon production equipment.Design of R&D specialist equipment for Saskatoon prototype development.Design and drafting of bespoke engineering solutions for production equipment.Design and drafting of bespoke engineering solutions for R&D equipment and new product development.Evaluation of adhesives and laser technology (specialist subject) for production and development.Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:Hold themselves and other team members accountable and focus on Safety as a core value.Values integrity, works transparently and is recognized for treating others with respect.Takes accountability to create and execute solutions that deliver desired results and can "own it" in a Performance Driven Culture.Ability to work collaboratively and lead teams in a Teamwork culture.Ability to ignite and lead change as a catalyst for improvement.Can thrive in a "legacy now" culture in which we strive to do the right thing for the company today, even if it is the hard thing, and leave behind a stronger company for the next generation of employees.Strong leadership skills including ability to think strategically, solve problems and create a motivating team environment.Ability to select and hire "A" players, continuously develop employees, coach to maximize performance and manage underperformers.A "builder" who is comfortable in a continuous improvement culture.Job Qualifications:Minimum of 10 years of related experience and/or bachelor's degree.Industry relevant production experience.Tangible track record of improving organizational effectiveness and operations management.Knowledge of business and management, HR, and project management principles and practices.Must possess excellent computer skills (Microsoft applications (i.e. Excel, Word, PPT, etc.).Must have leadership, coaching and mentoring skills.Excellent verbal/written communication skills and possess a "can-do" with quality first attitude and take "ownership" over Logistics initiatives.
