Medicinal Cannabis Authorised Prescriber (AP) Doctor - Flexible Telehealth Skip to content Position Title: Medicinal Cannabis Authorised Prescriber (AP) Doctor Employment Type: Full Time or Part Time Reporting To: Directors & Chief Medical Officer About The Role: We are seeking a qualified and experienced Authorised Prescriber (AP) to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of medicinal cannabis, possess the necessary qualifications to prescribe cannabis-based treatments and be passionate about contributing to the advancement of patient care through alternative therapies. Please Note: This position is completely remote. Work from home experience is preferred. Duties and Responsibilities:
- Evaluate patients to determine eligibility for medicinal cannabis treatment based on medical history, symptoms and conditions.
- Prescribe eligible patients medicinal cannabis relevant to their treatment plan.
- Renew eligible patients' prescriptions when required.
- Have frequent contact with the Clinical Nursing Manager who manages the Dispensed nursing team.
- When required, provide patient education on the benefits, risks and proper usage of medicinal cannabis.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records and comply with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Authorised Prescriber (AP) status for Medicinal Cannabis is required.
- Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and capability to prescribe Schedule 8 medication are essential.
- Proven experience as an Authorised Prescriber for medicinal cannabis.
- Deep understanding of prescribing medicinal cannabis treatment and the conditions associated with it.
- Demonstrated understanding of the regulatory landscape for medicinal cannabis in Australia.
- Prior experience working from home is preferred.
- Strong understanding of the endocannabinoid system, cannabis pharmacology and most recent related medical research.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Reliable and responsive.
- Proficient with technology.
- Ability to work collaboratively with other departments.
- Demonstrated understanding of the regulatory landscape for medicinal cannabis in Australia.
