Responsibilities Major Accountabilities/Principal Responsibilities: We are currently recruiting for an Associate to join our Financing & Advisory Group based in Sydney, Australia to support the origination and execution activities across a broad range of structured finance transactions in particular within the Mining, Metals and related industries sectors. The candidate will also work with other business lines within Financing & Advisory such as Infrastructure, Digital, Energy and Real Estate. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to build close relationships with the teams onshore and within the organization more broadly on a regional and global basis. - Preparing, customizing, optimizing and maintaining the financial model supporting advisory mandates, including creating and running financial scenarios and sensitivities
- Interrogating the financial model for financing mandates including creating and running of sensitivities and checking integrity
- Ability to review and, where appropriate, supervise financial modelling tasks undertaken by junior staff, and completing more complex modelling tasks where required.
- Staying abreast of developments across sectors, in particular Mining & Metals finance, as well as current transactions and opportunities in the market
- Providing day to day transaction support including structuring, pricing, preparing of credit applications, undertaking detailed financial analyses and due diligence analyses and assisting the deal team leader to provide best-in-class lending and advisory services to the client base
- Respecting all relevant compliance practices and other internal requirements in relation to the execution of advisory & lending transactions
- Managing internal processes relating to the arranging and advisory business (e.g. updating databases, credit application writing, completing relevant internal system-based processes)
- Identifying potential marketing opportunities and preparing pitch material (including reviewing feasibility studies, detailed analysis of financial models, etc.)
- Starting to establish a network of contacts at key clients and prospective clients
- Supervision / development of junior team members including appropriate delegation and review of certain tasks suitable to the skills and experience of those junior team members whilst maintaining a high quality of overall team execution
- University degree in a relevant discipline (Finance, Engineering, Business, Commerce, Law) or a professional financial qualification
- Post graduate qualifications considered favorably
- Experience in Mining & Metals finance and sector knowledge, and/or another structured finance environment utilizing similar tools, processes and procedures will also be favorably considered
- 3-5 years’ relevant experience
- Advanced Microsoft Excel including strong financial modelling skills
- Experience in generating pitch material that is clear, structured, compelling, and comprehensive in addressing clients’ needs
- Strong numerical skills with an advanced understanding of accounting concepts, financial statements and cashflows
- Ability to contribute to the team’s efforts to build and maintain trusted client relationships
- Consistency and rigour in following up on clients’ needs and act upon team’s priorities
- Display a sense of ownership in the business and pride in the quality and accuracy of work presented internally and transactions executed for clients
- Discipline and team collaboration to develop business adapted to clients’ and markets’ needs
- Ability to prioritize tasks and to manage competing deadlines, and to deliver on team’s priorities
- Experience of working (including remotely) with people with diverse, international backgrounds and acting on team priorities
