We are searching for a talented and experienced Lead Designer to join as a founding member of the studio and influence the creation of a world-class team and their debut title. The Lead Designer is an essential part of the game team, not only leading the design but forming the glue between all the other disciplines. You will become the expert on the project with an innate understanding of all aspects of the game, driving the product forward through collaborative leadership and design excellence. [Please note: For this role we are seeking applicants based in, or who are able to relocate to, the Dublin area] Responsibilities as a Lead Designer at Electric Square:
- Lead the design team in creating new and exciting features and content
- Manage and inspire confidence with the client/partner
- Ensure smooth, clear communication within both the design team, and wider development team
- Responsible for owning design and implementation for the project, including production planning and cross-discipline coordination
- Sets standards for design team on the project, and ensures delivery on time to quality
- Can effectively delegate tasks across the design team by providing clear goals and empowering staff
- Create and maintain design documentation
- Respond to and implement feedback from data, reviews and play tests
- Provides feedback on all aspects of design in reviews
- Identifies risks for the team and propose mitigations
- Mentors and coaches designers on the project
- Partners with HR and team in the recruiting and hiring process
- Prior experience of operating as a lead designer
- Experience working with external stakeholders
- Strong collaborative and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrates good people management skills: Listens, includes, and pluses others ideas
- Able to concisely articulate game concepts and analyse game mechanics
- A broad and deep knowledge of systems and content design
- Demonstrates high level of personal productivity
- Experience in vehicle gameplay for open-world action games
