About the job "Strategy delivery" is a new functional area of focus for the IB, which is being established to enhance the delivery of initiatives and achievement of strategic outcomes. The Strategy Delivery, Head role is an exciting opportunity to shape a new position within a growing team and to positively impact the educational experiences of millions of young people around the world. The Strategy Delivery, Head is responsible for partnering with senior executives and managing a small team to deliver the outcomes of 1-2 of the 4 pillars of the IB's strategy. This role is a critical member of the Strategy Development & Delivery team within the IB, which is responsible for defining organizational strategy and outcomes, developing strategic plans to achieve these outcomes, and supporting execution to achieve desired outcomes. Role and responsibilities 1. Responsible for partnering closely with senior executives to deliver the outcomes of 1-2 pillars of the IB's strategy Develop a deep understanding of the strategic objectives of the pillar(s) Act as the main strategy counterpart to the senior executives in charge of the pillar(s) - in brainstorming and problem solving strategy delivery challenges, identifying opportunities, and scoping new initiatives as needed to achieve desired outcomes Regularly evaluate the portfolio of initiatives associated with the pillar(s) to manage dependencies and ensure they are on track to meet strategic outcomes of the pillar(s) as a whole Identify topics of discussion related to the strategy pillar that require engagement from strategy governance groups Facilitate collaboration across initiatives/projects within the pillar to ensure alignment toward the same shared goals 2. Accountable for the successful delivery of all (4 - 8) high priority initiatives within the strategy pillar(s) (joint accountability with business owner of each initiative) Assess readiness of initiatives, when they commence and annually, to ensure they have all best practices in place to start on a solid foundation Identify the strategic partnership and project management support each initiative needs - on an ongoing basis as the initiative evolves - and allocatesupport resources from the team of strategy delivery managers accordingly Take the lead personally in the most complex and/or high priority areas (e.g. strategic visioning for early stage initiatives, project planning for costly and high risk priority initiatives) Ensure initiatives receive the support they need to succeed, coaching team members to be successful partners and problem solvers, andtaking the lead when necessary tode-bottleneck Engage as thought partners to initiative sponsors (Chief or Director level) to jointly address initiative risks and plan significant course correction 3. Accountable for leading and developing a team of 1 -3 strategic initiative managers Foster a culture of high quality delivery, partnership and solving problems through critical thinking and influencing skills (as opposed to a culture of policing, controls and solving problems through escalations and authority) Ensure direct reports have quantifiable performance and development objectives, and coach and develop team members - a particular focus as this new team is forming About you Experience: Proven track record of successfully working in a strategy role with senior executives, and leading a strategic initiative / project team (e.g. management consulting roles, corporate strategy roles) Proven track record of successfully delivering complex portfolios of strategic initiatives. Experience working in a non-profit or educational environment is a plus. Qualifications: Educational background in business, strategy, or a related field; MBA or equivalent is desirable. Knowledge: Deep understanding of strategic planning and project management methodologies. Strong data analysis skills, with the ability to derive insights and drive decisions. Proficiency in project management software and tools. Soft Skills: Strategic Leadership: Exceptional ability to inspire initiative teams and leaders across the organization, getting people excited about a vision for change and their role in it Change leadership: has diplomacy and influencing skills to drive change through others, and the courage to ask uncomfortable questions Shared leadership and co-creation: gives recognition to others and is oriented towards serving others to empower them to succeed. Relationship building: Able to quickly build trust and credibility as a leader with diverse stakeholders who have very different experiences, contexts and expertise Impact orientation: able to see the bigger picture and prioritize the most important discussions versus getting lost in details Complex problem solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, capable of navigating and resolving complex issues.
