Coulson Aviation Australia operates the New South Wales Rural Fire Service fleet of aerial firefighting and emergency services assets consisting of both fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft. For more information about Coulson Aviation Australia visit Coulson Aviation - WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR: We are currently recruiting qualified UH-60/S70 Blackhawk Pilots and Co-Pilots to be part of our team! The chosen candidate will work in a team environment conducting aerial firefighting and flood response, equipment transport, reconnaissance, search and rescue, disaster mitigation and related operations in support of emergency services. They must have a strong focus on safety and customer service. The role requires flexibility and working away from home base at short notice and offers competitive salary and an emphasis on work/ life balance on offer. Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Act as PIC or Co-pilot of S70A-9 Black Hawk helicopter in firefighting operations both day and night and other missions as required by the company
  • Conduct aerial work operations such as Aerial Fire Suppression, Dispensing operations, External load, Intel, Surveillance & Reconnaissance (ISR), Search and Rescue and any approved specialist operations in support of Emergency Service Organizations both during day and night missions.
  • Be able to work on a roster away from home base for extended periods at a time at short notice
  • Willing to fly other aircraft types if qualified and as required by the company
  • Devote time to group or self-study of aircraft systems, EP’s, etc. and be available for training and check-flights as required by Coulson Aviation Australia.
  • Maintain written and computerized flight logs and records.
  • Ensure all flights, operations and other work follow CASA Regulations, Company Manuals, policies and client SOP’s and are achieved safely, effectively and efficiently.
  • Maintains self and helicopter in a constant state of readiness for dispatch to emergency and non-emergency operations; or to any other assigned locations as required by the company at short notice.
  • Perform any other duties during schedule shift as requested by Director of Operations or Head of flying Operations.
Experience Requirements:
  • Australian CPL(H)
  • 3000 hrs. Rotary Experience
  • Australian Class 1 Medical
  • HUET
  • CRM
  • Dangerous Goods Awareness
  • Low Level Firefighting rating
  • Low Level Sling Load Rating
  • Minimum 3 year and 500 hours experience in remote area and unimproved landing area operations.
  • Minimum 3 year and 500 hours background in Part 138 Aerial work operations including firefighting and/ or external load operations
  • The right to live and work in Australia
Desirable Qualifications/Experience:
  • UH60/ S70 Blackhawk endorsement
  • Grade 1 NVIS Rating
  • Multi Engine Instrument Rating
