Primary Purpose of the Position: In this pivotal role, you will lead complex airport infrastructure design projects, ensuring the highest standards of engineering excellence and client satisfaction. You'll provide technical leadership, oversee project delivery, and mentor a talented multi-disciplinary team. We’re looking for a strategic thinker with a deep understanding of airport engineering and strong leadership skills to drive innovative solutions in a fast-paced environment. Key Responsibility:
- Design Delivery: • Lead and manage the design and delivery of airport infrastructure projects, including airport masterplans & airside and landside infrastructure designs. • Collaborate with and coordinate design teams that include multidisciplinary engineers, planners, and technicians to ensure cohesive project delivery.
- Project Management: • Develop project scopes, budgets, and schedules, ensuring that all project deliverables meet or exceed client expectations. • Provide technical oversight and quality assurance for all project stages, from concept design through to construction and handover. • Manage project budgets, monitor financial performance, and ensure projects are delivered within agreed financial targets. • Allocate and manage resources effectively, ensuring the optimal utilization of personnel, equipment, and materials. • Proactively identify and assess project risks, developing and implementing mitigation strategies to minimize potential impacts on project delivery. • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations, promoting a culture of safety across all project activities.
- Client and Stakeholder Management: • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, maintaining strong relationships and ensuring satisfaction through effective communication and project execution. • Liaise with regulatory authorities, airport operators, and other key internal/external stakeholders to ensure needs capture and compliance with all relevant standards/regulations. • Identify and pursue new business opportunities, contributing to business development efforts and proposal preparation.
- Team Leadership and Mentorship: • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of engineers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth. • Provide guidance and support to project teams, ensuring that technical challenges are addressed promptly and effectively. • Promote collaboration and knowledge sharing across the wider Surbana Jurong team and other project participants.
- Quality Assurance and Technical Excellence: • Lead the development of engineering designs and solutions that adhere to industry best practices, regulatory requirements, constructability, safety, and Surbana Jurong standards. • Conduct technical reviews and provide expert advice on complex engineering issues, ensuring the highest levels of accuracy and integrity in all project outputs. • Champion innovation and the adoption of new technologies to enhance project efficiency and sustainability.
- Business Development: • Identify and pursue new business opportunities, contributing to business development efforts and proposal preparation. • Lead the technical aspects of proposals, including project understanding, resource planning, and technical write-ups for regional airport Requests for Proposals (RFPs).
- Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or Aeronautical engineering. A Master's degree in Airport Planning / Engineering or a related discipline is highly desirable.
- Professional Registration: Chartered Engineer (CEng) or Professional Engineer (PE) status is required. Membership in relevant professional bodies is an advantage.
- Experience: Minimum of 15 years of experience in design and technical management of airport engineering projects, including geometric design of airside & landside, utilities, OLS surface studies.
- Project Management: Demonstrated experience in managing complex, multi-disciplinary projects from inception through to completion.
