About the Hermitage Clinic Blackrock Health Hermitage Clinic is a state of the art 112 bed healthcare facility. The hospital provides a wide range of Emergency, Ambulatory, Interventional and Diagnostic care to for Adults and some services for Children. Key Responsibilities Visiting: Patients on all wards should be visited appropriate to the patients religious denomination as soon as possible after admission.The patient will control continuing contact. Patients who specifically request no Chaplain visit will have their wishes honoured. Availability: The Chaplain will operate a referral service, and during core hours be available via the Hospital phone system where appropriate.All referrals will receive attention. The Chaplain service will be offered irrespective of gender, race, creed or colour. Pastoral Care: The Chaplain will respond to the pastoral need of patients, relatives and staff within the resources available. Spiritual / Religious: The Chaplain will recognise and value other peoples belief systems in a developing multicultural society through co-ordination with representatives or minister of all faiths. As appropriate to faith and culture, the Chaplain will provide opportunities and resources for individual and corporate prayer and worship. Professional Development: The Chaplain will be committed to continue professional development through in-service as by the Chaplain organisations and associates to which members of the department are affiliated. Managerial: The Chaplain will accept managerial accountability and will be directly responsible to the COO of Blackrock Health Hermitage Clinic or designate, as well as to the appropriate Ecclesiastical Authority. The Chaplain will liaise and link with all staff in providing an appropriate service to patient. The Chaplain shall receive all internal communication directly. The Chaplain shall, if required, provide a report on departmental issues and initiatives Education and Development: The Chaplain will recruit on a voluntary basis people to assist him/her in their duties and to provide training for them in pastoral ministry as may be approved by the hospital and in accordance with such procedures as may be set down by the Hospital from time to time. Theological and Ethical issues of Healthcare: The Chaplain will keep informed about current ethical issues of healthcare and shall be prepared to address ethical issues with those in authority within the Blackrock Health Hermitage Clinic Hospital Policies & Procedures: The Chaplain will acquaint himself with the existing policies. Desireable Skills: Help identify spiritual and religious 'filters' and ensure that other peoples belief systems are recognised and valued. Develop a multicultural society through co-ordination with representatives or minister of all faiths and none. Facilitate individual and corporate prayer and worship as appropriate to faith and culture. Be responsible for the distribution of religious materials within the hospital. Provide to the Sacramental ministry. Plan and organise annual services e.g. celebration and remembrance. Plan and organise a mortuary / removal service and prayers in line with the wishes of bereaved families to bring their experience in Hospital to a dignified conclusion. Computer literate. Good communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to listen, be open minded and respond with empathy compassion and with a tolerant attitude. Ability to demonstrate self- awareness.
