The Medical Scientific Liaison (MSL) is a key member of the country medical team and represents primarily a field and customer focused role enabling medically oriented interaction with external and internal stakeholders on the basis of individual contacts educational events and medical projects. They will be an expert on the disease areas under their responsibility and will ensure their knowledge is current and thorough. The MSL implements the medical strategy locally and supports the generation and communication of scientific information. They act as primary point of contact for HCPs and are responsible for maintaining professional relationships with key thought leaders and external stakeholders and excellence in communication internally. The MSL reports to the Medical Lead and will be based in either Sydney or Queensland covering NSW Queensland and some of the Northern Territory. Responsibilities:
- Establish build and maintain collaborative relationships with key external medical experts and thought leaders related to the relevant current and future disease or therapeutic area and develop a deep understanding of the stakeholder needs.
- Contribute to the generation and communication of complex scientific information and communicate scientific data related to current and future products under their responsibility to relevant stakeholders (including the delivery of scientific presentations to individuals or groups of health care professionals).
- Ensure timely and highquality responses to unsolicited questions from HCPs and other stakeholders.
- Regularly communicate medical insights from KOL interactions to inform and refine medical strategy and tactics
- Monitor the external landscape and identify new and changing trends in therapeutic area. Capture competitive intelligence and proactively communicate strategic insights to the cross functional team where appropriate. Build maintain and ensure objectives of KOL engagement plans are met in a timely accurate and compliant manner.
- Implement and deliver on the medical tactical plans including for example external medical education initiatives; provide support for of local scientific meetings and programs such as symposia round table meetings preceptorships; advisory boards meetings.
- Support relevant Early Access/Local Compassionate Programs to address high unmet medical needs.
- Manages/provide support to Medison s partner clinical research programs registries and investigator sponsored research as required in accordance with company policy local regulations and GCP requirements
- Proactively support internal medical knowledge development and conduct therapeutic area/product training to contribute to MSLs sales and other functions and specialized vendors where relevant and develop/update training materials as relevant
- Maintain in depth knowledge and scientific expertise for assigned products and related therapeutic areas
- Adhere to pharmacovigilance requirements and support the implementation of additional risk minimization activities as required.
- Conduct all activities in compliance with local regulatory and legal requirements local guidelines and accepted standards Medicines Australia Code of Conduct and Medison s policies and procedures.
- Advanced tertiary qualification in a scientific discipline (PharmD MD PhD is preferred)
- Previous experience in Medical Affairs within Australia/New Zealand of which a minimum of 2 years experience in a medical scientific liaison (or equivalent) role. Experience in new product launches and of medicalscientific projects ideal.
- Experience working in multinational organizations.
- Deep knowledge of the Australian healthcare system experience in Oncology and ImmunoOncology ideal.
- Strong understanding of the local regulatory requirements accepted standards and guidelines.
- Medicines Australian Code of Conduct training completed with a strong working knowledge and experience in the practical application of the Medicines Australia Code of Conduct.
- Deep scientific expertise with the ability to understand and effectively communicate scientific and medical information to both internal and a variety of external stakeholders
