The purpose of the position is to plan, implement, evaluate and monitor Occupational Therapy (O.T.) services for an assigned caseload of patients as a member of an interprofessional team at Waypoint Centre for Mental Health Care and to provide training, educational and consultative services to staff, students, community and educational institutions.Please Note: This position offers a hybrid work environment consisting of in-office and remote work. Join your team - Waypoint (waypointcentre.ca).KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:Assessing the level of functional independence and occupational performance issues of clients through interviews, observations, and the use of standardized/non-standardized assessments tools utilizing a best practice process.Work collaboratively with the client, multidisciplinary team and community partners to develop, implement and evaluate the client’s recovery plan of care. Communicate with stakeholders regarding client’s progress and any specific concerns related to wellness.Develop, implement, and evaluate therapeutic treatment strategies and crisis management strategies with clients, families, other service providers documenting assessment results, evaluations, client progress, clinical summaries, etc. according to the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario (COTO) and Waypoint standards, and contributing to and collaborating within an interprofessional team to reach consensus decisions.Liaise with community agencies/facilities to meet the needs of the population being served, provide information and promote and advocate for community based programs and services. Provide health teaching and knowledge translation as appropriate.Develop, implement, facilitate and evaluate different treatment modalities i.e. group and individual therapies for example, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and other evidenced based therapies as appropriate. Participate in data collection, research and program evaluation projects; participation on committeesREQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:Registration with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario in good standingRecent mental health experience, including familiarity with the recovery philosophy, and trauma informed care.Experience developing and leading therapeutic groups and providing individual therapies such as CBT and DBTAdvanced knowledge of and experience with the theories and best practices of your regulated profession (related to mental health illness/addiction)Proven experience with evidence based assessment,treatment, interventions and best practicesResults oriented work ethic to work independently and undertake tasks needed to accomplish work objectives and deliver quality, consistent and timely results Demonstrated leadership, analytical thinking, conflict resolution, interpersonal and organizational skillsProven written and verbal communication skillsProven ability to adapt readily to changeModels and promotes core ethical practice, Waypoint Values (Caring, Respect, Accountability, Innovation), and reflects an optimistic and positive attitudePreference for proficiency in French/English language skillsHOW DO I APPLY?Waypoint employees apply through the Employee Self-Service portal at and external applicants apply to This position will remain open until filled.
