Project Engineer

Responsibilities:

1. Monitor the performance of the Design Consultant(s) to ensure design correctness and completeness, as well as compliance with the scope of work requirements.
2. Maintain a record of the Design Consultant(s) submittals and control the submittals/correspondence received from the Design Consultant(s) in a timely manner.
3. Follow up on all engineering and construction activities of the finishing contractors and report to the PM any potential risks regarding cost, time, and quality.
4. Prepare all the finishing work tender packages in coordination with the designers and the procurement department.
5. Assist the procurement department in the technical evaluation of the finishing tender package.
6. Manage the Value Engineering process for the finishing packages, present design options relevant to the design brief, and develop these ideas through close cooperation and discussion with the designers and Eighteen Engineering and PD departments.
7. Evaluate and endorse variation orders/concession requests submitted by the Design Consultant(s) for Eighteen's approval.
8. Attend all meetings with the Design Consultant(s), his sub-consultants, and Eighteen's meetings.
9. Review and comment on all drawings and documents submitted by the Design Consultant(s) and ensure the incorporation of all revisions on all documents.
10. Assist and monitor timely submittals of all documents from the Design Consultant(s) to all government departments until obtaining the final permits necessary to proceed with the works until final completion.
11. Follow up with the supervision team on the review of contractor's submittals and the quality of installation on site.
12. Coordinate with the head office for technical support required to ensure the correctness and completeness of the design.
13. Review and report to the Project Manager all Design Consultant(s) monthly reports, including areas of concern and recommended plans of action. Review the project design strategy and provide recommendations to Eighteen's Project Director (PD).
14. Assist in preparing questionnaires for the pre-qualification of the Design Consultants and Construction Contractors, assist in carrying out the pre-qualification, and recommend a bidders list.
15. Lead PM team Discipline Engineers in replying to bidders’ clarifications, issuing bulletins, and attending technical meetings with bidders during the tender stage.
16. Propose alternative materials/systems to improve design operation, future maintenance, and construction cost.
17. Manage the coordination process between the architectural activities and all other project trades.
18. Ensure that all Project Design Documents are controlled, recorded, and filed as per contract requirements.
19. Assist the Project Director in handing over all units to the clients and end users.
