The Environmental Officer is responsible for overseeing the environmental performance of an organization, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations, and implementing strategies to minimize the environmental impact of operations. This role includes monitoring pollution levels, waste management, energy conservation, and promoting sustainable practices.Key Responsibilities:Environmental Compliance:Ensure the organization adheres to all relevant environmental regulations, laws, and standards.Conduct regular audits and inspections to verify compliance and identify any environmental hazards.Prepare and submit reports required by regulatory bodies.Policy Development and Implementation:Develop and implement environmental policies and practices in line with organizational goals and legal requirements.Recommend updates to policies based on changes in regulations or environmental goals.Environmental Impact Assessment:Conduct environmental impact assessments for projects or new facilities.Evaluate potential risks and propose measures to mitigate negative impacts.Waste and Pollution Management:Oversee waste disposal, recycling, and pollution control programs.Implement strategies to reduce waste generation, pollution, and environmental footprint.Energy and Resource Conservation:Promote energy-saving initiatives and resource conservation strategies.Work with departments to reduce water and energy usage and increase resource efficiency.Training and Awareness:Conduct training sessions for employees to raise awareness of environmental issues and best practices.Encourage sustainable practices across the organization.Reporting and Documentation:Prepare and maintain documentation related to environmental audits, compliance, and inspections.Generate periodic reports on environmental performance and sustainability goals.Stakeholder Engagement:Liaise with regulatory bodies, environmental agencies, and other stakeholders.Act as the main point of contact for environmental matters within the organization.Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.Knowledge of environmental regulations and standards.Strong analytical skills for conducting environmental assessments and audits.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with staff, management, and stakeholders.Certification in environmental management (such as ISO 14001) is a plus.Job Type: Full-timePay: QAR5,000.00 - QAR6,000.00 per month
