About the role: We are looking for a commercial manager to join a
growing team in Perth. This role would have you looking after a
variety of projects, including dewatering, pipelines, excavation,
utilities, and crushing and screening. The main responsibility of this
role is to focus on the delivery of projects, including how they're
administered on site, supporting project managers, and negotiating
with clients. You will also have a direct report to manage.
responsibilities of the role include: Effectively managing allocated
subcontract packages through all phases, including scope preparation,
procurement, cost forecasting, subcontractor management, claims and
variation processing, completion and close out. Participate in scope
of works planning, ensuring that scope gaps are minimised, cost
efficiencies are maximized, and subcontractor capabilities are
considered.
Provide governance oversight of client contracts to ensure compliance
to obligations, pro-active pursuit of entitlements and opportunities
to maximize project profitability. Reviewing and compiling contracts
as required. Maintain contact and good working relationships with our
local subcontractors and maintain good awareness of market conditions
and movements. Be the point of contact for internal legal consultation
on commercial and contractual matters. Operate and maintain commercial
and contract systems. Prepare reports on commercial performance
periodically and on an ad hoc basis as required.
To be successful in this key role, you must have: Post-graduate
qualifications e.g. graduate certificate, a graduate diploma in
Commerce, Accounting, Business, Construction, Quantity Surveying, Law
or other associated disciplines would be a preference. Experience as a
Contracts Administrator or Quantity Surveyor in the construction and
engineering industry. Experience in all stages of subcontract
management, including scope preparation, procurement, cost
forecasting, subcontractor management, claims and variation
management, completion and close out. Experience with a variety of
project values and complexity, including large, technically complex
works packages. Strong commercial acumen and awareness in areas of
cost management and contract law. Knowledge and understanding of
industry market conditions and movements. Demonstrated ability to
manage commercial negotiations. Awareness and compliance with document
control and records management procedures.
