Job Overview An exciting opportunity for a Public Affairs Manager to join a renewable energy company located in Cork. In this new role, you will work with the team to represent the business interests in Ireland. You will be the eyes and ears for changes in policy that may impact the organisation's operations, you will support the team to engage with policy makers, and you will help to build the brand's reputation on the market. Public affairs is a critical component to the company's successful growth and they are looking for a candidate who is passionate about renewing the way the world is powered and who shares the same values of acting responsibly, and growing together. The Public Affairs Manager for Ireland will report to the Head of Communications and Public Affairs and work closely with colleagues, in Ireland and across Europe. Please note that it is expected that this role will require the successful candidate to be based in Cork, with some travel as the role requires. As part of this role you will: Work with the Head of Communications and Public Affairs to define and manage the public affairs strategy in Ireland Manage the execution of the strategy in Ireland Coordinate consultation responses to the Irish Government and relevant State Agencies Build professional relationships with relevant departments officials and political representatives Represent the organisation in meetings, independently and with colleagues Identify profile building opportunities, and networking events, and prepare relevant colleagues as necessary Take an active role in trade body memberships Work with colleagues to develop points of view and positions on a wide range of technologies and regulatory matters Identify and develop ways to communicate our key policy asks and challenges Qualifications Have worked in public affairs (experience considered will include in-house, agency, consultancy, charity, NGO, civil service, and/or parliamentary roles) Have a strong understanding of politics and policy making in Ireland Have examples of managing, in full or in part, successful public affairs campaigns Have experience of working on complex policy issues in a regulated sector Have experience of negotiating different points of view and establishing a consensus Have excellent time management and prioritisation skills Are strong communicators and networkers Are self-starters, happy working under their own initiative and as part of the team Can see the bigger picture whilst maintaining attention to detail Are keen to develop knowledge, skills and competence in areas of the role that they may be less strong.
