MRAG Limited is a leading environmental consultancy dedicated to the sustainable management of natural resources, specialising in aquatic resources, particularly fisheries and aquaculture. About this job: We are currently seeking a Principal Consultant to work on marine and freshwater fisheries and aquaculture projects. This is a full-time position based in central London, with a hybrid working arrangement (remote and in-office) and opportunities for overseas travel. Applicants should demonstrate a strong interest in the sustainable use and management of fisheries, aquaculture and associated ecosystems relevant to MRAG’s work (see MRAG website ). The ideal candidate will be highly qualified and motivated, with a minimum of 8 years’ relevant experience. Your primary role will be to implement projects within MRAG’s portfolio, but you will also need to participate in and manage the full project cycle, from tendering to implementation. Experience managing a diverse project portfolio and an established network of contacts is essential. Proficiency in additional languages is an advantage. Required experience and skills:
- Post-graduate degree in marine biology, fisheries science or another relevant subject.
- Minimum of 8 years’ professional experience in the fisheries and aquaculture sector.
- Experience managing the full project cycle, including contractual and budgeting aspects.
- Proven experience in new business development and a network of relevant contacts.
- Experience leading and managing project teams.
- Excellent written, presentation and quantitative analytic skills, with a track record of producing high-quality outputs.
- Broad geographic experience in projects related to fisheries and aquaculture.
- Strong communication skills, both within teams and with clients and project partners. Additional languages are desirable but not essential.
- Ability to multitask across several projects, often to tight deadlines.
- Knowledge of fisheries and climate change, ecosystem approach to fisheries management, the blue economy or marine spatial planning would be desirable but not essential.
