Job Purpose:

Professional to successfully support industrial distributed control system projects by applying product knowledge and implementation methodology while creating configurations, documents, and custom programming elements.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  1. Monitor and analyze process control performance on a weekly basis, and implement the required gap closure actions to maximize plant optimization and stability.
  2. Monitor the performance of plants yield, selectivity & TMR and implement the required improvement actions.
  3. Report process control performance of APC, RTO, AMS & CLPM to PMT weekly along with required recommendations.
  4. Attend the weekly POM meeting to address concerns related to process control performance.
  5. Support PMT in improving process control performance and inform of changes to existing control schemes if necessary.
  6. Evaluate APC / PID controllers performance, and implement the required corrective actions (e.g. tuning, model re-training, etc.) to improve the control benefits and stability.
  7. Optimize industrial processes for increased profitability while ensuring that products meet precise specifications and government regulations for the product and/or waste emissions.
  8. Effective participation in Alarm rationalization & assessment meetings to improve plant alarm management performance.
  9. Maintain stable operations by stabilizing the performance of APC and basic regulatory process control loops.
  10. Prepare MOC packages for the changes related to process control and logic design modifications.
  11. Raise and manage CAPEX / MOC required for process control improvement.
  12. Analyze, identify, and implement the optimization opportunities related to process control and automation.
  13. Annual APC/RTO benefit assessment & re-validation to be conducted.
  14. Achieve SABIC Maturity level for APC, AMS, and CLPM performance.
  15. Support plant during TAM & major shutdowns.
  16. Train “Run and Maintain” teams in process control fundamentals required to drive performance improvements.
  17. Train young control engineers, monitor their progress, and act as mentor engineer to develop them and validate their progress on a continuous basis.

Job Qualifications:

Bachelor Degree in chemical engineering or equivalent. Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the relevant field.

Job Capabilities & Competencies:

  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements, procedures, and legislative process.
  • Excellent communication skills and experience applying technology through teamwork.
  • Excellent communication skills, personal rapport, and motivation are required to effectively coach internal staff and work with outside groups and agencies engaged in process safety.
  • Proficient in Microsoft applications, including MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, and MS PowerPoint.
