Position Summary The Sr. Director of Hardware Engineering will spearhead the development of Miovision's next-generation devices. This role requires close collaboration with cross-functional teams across software engineering, product management, and customer care to drive innovation and ensure products are high-quality, exceeding both market expectations and regulatory requirements. The successful candidate will have a proven track record in leading hardware engineering teams, bringing complex products to market, and fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement. The successful candidate will report directly to the CTO and lead a team of Electrical designers, Mechanical Designers, and Firmware developers. Key Accountabilities
- Strategic Leadership :
- Execute the long-term hardware strategy aligned with Miovision's vision and goals.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to ensure hardware engineering supports the overall business strategy.
- Product Development:
- Lead end-to-end hardware development processes from concept to production, ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
- Oversee the design, testing, and prototyping of hardware products, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and certifications.
- Conduct system-level modeling of hardware resources and work with application developers to assign resource budgets (CPU, IO, etc.). Build effective cost models and implement cost reduction programs.
- Partner with Supply Chain to negotiate with component vendors to secure favourable pricing and terms.
- Team Management:
- Build, mentor, and manage a high-performance hardware engineering team, fostering a culture of innovation and accountability.
- Set clear goals, provide regular feedback, and facilitate professional growth for team members.
- Partner with finance in building budgets for product development and report on attainment.
- Cross-functional Collaboration:
- Partner with product management and software engineering to ensure seamless integration of hardware.
- Work with operations, supply chain, and manufacturing partners to ensure scalability and cost-effective production.
- Innovation & Continuous Improvement :
- Stay updated on emerging technologies, industry trends, and competitor products, driving innovation and continuous improvement within the hardware team.
- Implement best practices for hardware development, testing, and manufacturing to ensure product quality and efficiency.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in hardware engineering, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Proven track record of bringing complex hardware products to market, ideally in the IoT, telecommunications, or smart infrastructure sectors.
- Strong understanding of hardware development lifecycles, including design, testing, regulatory compliance, and mass production.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams and managing external partnerships with suppliers, manufacturers, and regulatory bodies.
- Excellent leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate teams.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
- Experience in the traffic management or smart city industry.
- Familiarity with IoT hardware and edge computing technologies.
- Knowledge of regulatory standards and certifications related to smart infrastructure or traffic management systems.
- Strong communication skills with experience presenting to C-suite executives, Senior leadership, and external stakeholders.
