Purpose of Role As the Head of Front End Development, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our digital agency. You will lead a team of talented front-end developers, ensuring they deliver exceptional user experiences through cutting-edge head/headless development. Key Accountabilities
- Oversee and mentor a team of front-end developers, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
- Recruit, hire, and train top-tier front-end talent to strengthen the team's capabilities.
- Set clear goals and expectations, providing regular feedback and performance reviews.
- Lead front-end development efforts on complex projects, ensuring timely delivery and high-quality results.
- Collaborate with other ‘Heads of’ and other stakeholders to define and deliver on project requirements and scope.
- Estimate front-end development timelines and resource needs for projects and new business opportunities.
- Oversee Front End team project budgets and ensure efficient resource allocation.
- Drive innovation and explore new technologies to enhance our front-end development capabilities.
- Stay abreast of emerging trends in headless development and identify opportunities to leverage them.
- Contribute to the development of innovative front-end solutions that meet client needs and exceed expectations.
- Able to provide technical guidance and support to the team, ensuring they adhere to coding standards and best practices.
- Ability to architect and design scalable, reusable, and maintainable front-end components and libraries.
- Successful track record of collaborating with back-end developers to ensure seamless integration between front-end and back-end systems.
- Experience of working with enterprise level CMS and DXP platforms – ideally Sitecore or Optimizely.
- Ability to use technical skills and develop high quality front end code – a willingness to be ‘hands-on’.
- Fully up-to-date with the latest trends and best practices in frontend headless development, specifically best practices and development in ReactJS, NextJS, and TypeScript.
- Experience with server-side rendering (SSR) and static site generation (SSG).
- Experience with state management libraries (e.g., Redux).
- Familiarity with GraphQL and REST APIs.
- Proven expertise in ReactJS, NextJS, and TypeScript.
- Deep understanding of JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
- Experience with testing frameworks and methodologies.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- 7+ years of experience in front-end development, with a strong focus on headless architectures.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to lead and motivate a team.
- Passion for new innovative technologies and AI to drive forward technical excellence.
- You will have built (personally contributed) to enterprise grade web sites from scratch and delivered creative working digital solutions for web and mobile applications.
