Reporting to the People Operations Compliance Manager, the ESG Compliance Officer will provide support with administration, research, and presentations to Senior Directors and the wider business, new process roll outs and coordination support, alongside ESG and Compliance Project Management from start through to completion. There will be a particular focus on the Carbon Footprinting Project and social best practices and compliance initiatives across the business.The ESG Officer will support the People Operations Compliance Manager to steer the future direction of CMS's ESG practices and support with enhancing CMS's reputation and relationships with investors, customers, suppliers, employees, and government agencies. This is a supporting role, critical to the success of ESG awareness across the business, and will help to set accurate targets to reduce company emissions as well as to support the implementation of key processes and policies across the CMS Group.The role will be gathering information from many functions across the business, so understanding competing priorities and building relationships across departments is key. Travel to other CMS locations in the UK, Ireland, and Internationally will be required.Role ResponsibilitiesDrive the collection, organisation, and analysis of ESG data to meet global ESG reporting and communication needs.Analyse results and develop action plans to ensure CMS has a best-in-class ESG program.Develop corporate communications strategies and materials in collaboration with the Corporate Communications team for the communication of ESG initiatives to all internal and external audiences.Monitor and track progress against ESG goals and metrics.Carbon FootprintingSupporting the Carbon Footprinting exercise at CMS at every stage, from sourcing energy bills and business activity to the communication of results.Coordinating meetings with key members from the finance and warehouse team to gather this data with a focus across our subsidiaries.Keeping records of this data and building a relationship with the ESG consultancy in order to support Net Zero planning and Carbon Footprint reporting.Data analysis of the findings and any trends within the company.Research into appropriate policies to address emissions across different sites, and help to embed the CMS voice to these.Identify incoming legislative risks across the countries we operate in.Social Best Practices and ComplianceSupport the research of best practices covering the social aspects of ESG, working closely with our People Operations Compliance Manager to drive the needed changes.Compliance Costs to the BusinessTaking ownership of the data collection on the various costs and reporting requirements to compliance schemes.Identify any gaps in these across our subsidiaries for WEEE, waste/packaging, and plastic management.Check the validity and accuracy of the data submitted.Work with the Master Data team to implement system solutions to automate this workload.Identify any cost savings opportunities for CMS by combining this data and consolidating providers.Help in the creation of data checks and filing systems for modern slavery details from vendors.Work closely with the sales team to complete supplier FAQs and ensure submission is made in a timely manner.ESG Education SupportSupporting People Development with learning/awareness initiatives that are happening company-wide - i.e., raising awareness of our modern slavery new policy launches on MyLearning, and any other learning initiatives and campaigns that need support around internal communications.Calendar management for scheduling training sessions with the team and sustainability workshops, etc.Additional ResponsibilitiesCommunications SupportFrequent communication with the People Operation Teams to keep them up to date with all ESG projects and gain clarity on the 'Social' initiatives in ESG.Keep CMS-central updated, and work to build FAQ pages for the sales teams to answer increasing tender requests and questions on sustainability.Provide support to Internal Comms, from time to time, with content creation and updates to the site.Support the creation of slides for Company Update.Support to other parts of the People Operations team and assist with project management.ExternalAwareness and monitoring of our company stance on ESG in comparison to our competitors.Input ideas on website page design and communication of ESG topics to external stakeholders.InternalSupport with building resources on ESG to be added to CMS Central.Support on setting up company training on modern slavery and sustainability.Skills & Personal AttributesQualifications & ExperienceBachelor's degree in Communications, Environmental Science, sustainability, or related field.Excellent communication skills both in written and verbal format.Minimum of 2 years' office administrator experience from an ESG background.Ability to demonstrate learning and grasp the changing nature of legislation in the ESG space.SkillsAble to communicate effectively.Task driven.Time Management.Creative thinking.A strong understanding of each component of ESG.AttributesPositive and enthusiastic, "can do" attitude.Willingness to learn new skills through a growth mindset.Structured, organised, and methodical work style.Team player, supportive, and helpful to others.Self-starter, able to pick up tasks and deliver outcomes.Evidence of learning new skills, curiosity, and self-development.CMS believes that a diverse and inclusive workforce enriches and is integral to the success of our company.
