For more information, please visit our website at highriver.ca About the Opportunity We are looking for a full-time Engineer, Asset Management and Infrastructure to join our organization in High River, AB. Candidates have the option of working a compressed work week (4 days/week), or a hybrid work arrangement. Reporting to the Manager of Engineering Services, you will lead the delivery and ongoing management of an effective Asset Management System (AMS) for a diverse range of assets. You will ensure the quality of data captured for asset management purposes is maintained with strategic precision. This role demands a broad knowledge of technical work related to engineering in a growing municipality. In alignment with our strategic vision, Town Plan, and ACE workplace culture, you will be expected to act with integrity, take ownership of your contributions, and communicate clearly and effectively. Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Provide guidance and recommendations for the Town’s capital planning and infrastructure priorities, ensuring alignment with financial resources and funding opportunities Ensure accurate data supports decision-making for capital improvements and infrastructure replacements Oversee infrastructure condition assessments and remain current on asset management best practices and codes Coordinate and maintain the Town’s Asset Management Software System, supporting the GIS Developer and related systems Train staff at various levels on asset management concepts to build organizational capacity Collaborate with senior leaders on asset management strategies, investment approaches, and service level maintenance Create and manage an asset inventory database using GIS, service/work order systems, financial reporting, and asset management software Review engineering drawings, service connections, permits, and installations to ensure compliance with regulations and standards Liaise with contractors, developers, and third parties, ensuring design and construction standards are met Inspect construction projects, issue compliance certificates, and provide technical input for tender evaluations Manage and update engineering procedures and standards for municipal infrastructure (water, sewer, roads, etc.) Provide technical support for infrastructure projects, and present reports and recommendations to Senior Leadership and Council About You To qualify, you will need at least 4 years of related experience, as well as a Professional Engineering designation from APEGA or equivalent. A valid Class 5 Alberta driver's license is required. Knowledge, skills, and experience in the following will be considered strong assets: Civil or environmental engineering certification Experience in developing, analyzing, and maintaining GIS data and other GIS output products including use of software and GPS units for data collection Asset Management Certification Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or understanding of project management principles Strong computer skills including Microsoft 365 (Word, Outlook, Excel, Teams, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Planner, etc.) Knowledge of AutoCAD and GIS Familiarity with basic survey equipment Good understanding of contract law, project management, and municipal construction Experience with the CCC, FAC, and DCC process Municipal experience As the successful candidate, you excel at cultivating and maintaining strong working relationships, leveraging your interpersonal and communication skills to effectively convey ideas and collaborate with a variety of teams. With exceptional analytical, detail-oriented, and organizational skills, you are able to manage multiple tasks and projects efficiently. Your strong presentation skills and research abilities enable you to stay informed on industry best practices, while your sound judgment and ability to work independently ensure timely and thorough completion of tasks.
