Senior Release Manager - Job Description

Job Duties:

• Manage and oversee the release management process, ensuring efficient and timely deployment of software releases
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including development, testing, and operations, to plan and execute release activities
• Create and maintain release schedules, ensuring alignment with project timelines and business objectives
• Perform risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies to minimise disruptions during release cycles
• Collaborate with stakeholders to define release policies and procedures, ensuring adherence to industry best practises
• Monitor and track release progress, providing regular status updates to management and project teams
• Identify and escalate release-related issues or conflicts, working towards resolution to minimise impact on project timelines
• Ensure proper documentation of release processes, including release notes, deployment instructions, and post-release evaluations
• Stay updated with industry trends and emerging technologies related to release management, recommending process improvements

Required Qualifications:

• Proven experience as a Release Manager or in a similar role
• Strong understanding of software development lifecycle and release management processes
• Excellent knowledge of release management tools and techniques
• Ability to effectively coordinate and manage cross-functional teams
• Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Attention to detail and strong organisational skills
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines

Education:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field

Experience:

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in release management or a related role
• Experience in coordinating and managing complex software release cycles

Knowledge and Skills:

• Comprehensive knowledge of release management methodologies and best practises
• Proficiency in using release management tools and software
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Ability to understand and interpret technical documentation
• Excellent project management skills
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
• Professional certifications in release management or project management
• Experience in the banking and finance industry

Working Conditions:

• This is a contract position requiring full-time hours
• Work is primarily office-based, with occasional remote work possibilities
• May involve occasional travel to client sites or other locations as required
