The Environment Department at Northern Star currently has a great opportunity for a Senior Environmental Advisor - Compliance to join us on a permanent, full-time basis. Reporting to the Environment Manager and based at our Subiaco Head Office, the successful candidate will be supported by an experienced and high-quality team and will be responsible for the oversight of compliance with environmental approvals across our Australian Operations, maintaining compliance with our Environmental Management System (EMS) and legal obligations, as well as providing on-site support across our WA sites as and when required. Responsibilities of the role include:
- Assist in the improvement and maintenance of environmental compliance processes across Northern Star's Australian Operations.
- Review environmental compliance documents, responses to regulators, incident reports and non-compliance reports prepared by site teams, to ensure a consistent and high standard is maintained.
- Provide advice to sites on compliance matters.
- Work efficiently and effectively with a multitude of key stakeholders, including regulators.
- Work within the EMS and support policies and procedures.
- Coordinate and oversee the collation and QAQC of technical data required for NPI, NGERS, Safeguard Mechanism and Sustainability Reporting, and ensure associated reports to regulators are submitted on time.
- Coordinate the annual ABS Survey questionnaire.
- Participate in sustainability and business improvement projects.
- Support Northern Star's site Environmental Teams, which will involve travel to site, and include working a full 8-day swing from time to time.
- Hold a Tertiary Qualification in an Environmental related field.
- Experience with and a sound working knowledge of WA environmental approval and compliance processes and statutory reporting requirements.
- Experience working on site, ideally within WA.
- A thorough knowledge of environmental legislation, pertaining to the mining industry.
- Experience using and a sound working knowledge of EMS, technical programmes, data systems and databases.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build collaborative & functional relationships across a diverse range of stakeholders.
- The ability to lead from the front and by example to help drive successful outcomes and achieve departmental objectives and deliverables.
- Well organised, with the ability to anticipate and plan for potential senarios across your key responsibility areas.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities, with the ability to multitask effectively, in a dynamic & outcome focused environment.
