London/Surrey (flexible hybrid WFH 3-4 days p/wk)Posted 8 months agoPear Talent is representing a FTSE100 listed Financial Services group who have an excellent opportunity for an experienced Senior Manager in their Group Financial Controls team. This team owns the oversight of the Financial Control Framework (FCF) group-wide, and you'll play a key role in ensuring that this is operating effectively and efficiently across the business.You'll bring a high level of technical controls expertise to the role and will have responsibility for delivering several elements of the framework, including design effectiveness testing, reporting, and specific areas of the framework associated with models and EUCs, as well as ad-hoc activities around the ongoing development of the framework (e.g., preparation for UK SoX).This person will liaise with stakeholders from across the Group and underlying divisions, including senior leadership, as well as second and third line teams.Key accountabilities:Lead the delivery of core elements of FCF for specific divisions covering: risk assessment validation, design and operating effectiveness testing, resolving deficiencies, overseeing group end-to-end attestation process, and continual engagement with key stakeholders.Operate as a controls business partner to specific divisions to build and maintain relationships with senior management, support them on their FCF accountabilities, ensure FCF requirements are met for programmes/projects, support the FCF governance processes, and provide training to key stakeholders on how to comply with the FCF requirements.Manage the relationship with second and third lines, as well as the external auditor, to ensure effective and collaborative delivery of all financial control related activities.Oversee and lead the effective delivery of operating effectiveness testing.Lead the preparation and development of MI to support all aspects, and all key stakeholders of FCF (incl. audit committees).Present and deliver MI to various forums (incl. divisional control forums and CFOs, and the Financial Control Committee).Required experience:The ideal candidate will be a qualified accountant (ACA, CIMA or ACCA) with a strong academic record and significant post-qualified experience in a similar senior Financial Controls role within Financial Services.Strong understanding of financial reporting risk and control frameworks (incl. SoX).Strong conceptual and practical understanding of the risks and processes associated with insurance and asset management businesses.Ability to critically challenge technical requirements and to think outside the box to find innovative, practical and commercial solutions to problems.Highly persuasive on technical matters through written and verbal communications.
