We have an opportunity for a Senior Secondary Engineer (Protection, Control, Automation) Transmission to provide expert technical input and support to ensure the reliability and efficiency of our asset management strategies for AusNet’s transmission network.
Build your career whilst contributing to our cleaner energy future in a role that will oversee protection relays, control devices, and auxiliary systems, and heavily contribute to the development of equipment standards and maintenance practices.
You will also support the implementation of various asset management initiatives.
With a 3/2 Hybrid split (Office/WFH), this role is based in Southbank and is part of the Asset Management Team.
For candidates interested in moving for this role from states outside of Victoria in Australia, we would be delighted to offer relocation assistance for this role.
This role will deliver real outcomes, including but not limited to:
- Provide expertise in protection relays, control devices, and auxiliary systems
- Develop and implement asset management strategies and philosophies
- Deliver expert input to protection, control, and automation device and scheme performance and technical specifications.
- Contribute to the creation of equipment standards and maintenance policies
- Initiate and manage projects, from concept development to project handover
- Support asset management and replacement initiatives
- Collaborate with Network Operations to achieve capital and operational plans
- Maintain and audit asset-related databases and approve relevant technical documentation.
- Investigate and analyse equipment failures, draft reports, and create remedial actions
- Participate in regulatory and internal audits as needed
You don’t need to check every box; however, we are looking for a good combination of:
- Degree qualified in Engineering
- Considerable engineering/asset management experience
- Understanding of asset management practices, frameworks, and standards
- Knowledge of regulatory frameworks and relevant legislation
- Expertise in developing and implementing strategic asset management plans
- In-depth knowledge of protection, control, and automation devices and emerging trends
- Experience with analysis and design software, e.g., relay software, DigSilent
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to use data-driven insights
- Advanced reasoning skills and engineering judgment
