About the Role: We are looking for an experienced AWS DevOps Engineer who specialises in building and maintaining robust, scalable, and secure systems. This role will involve setting up systems from scratch with a focus on reliability, availability, and security. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in AWS MSK/Confluent, Kafka, multi-cloud environments, and containerisation technologies such as Kubernetes and Docker. You will play a key role in our DevOps team, driving our cloud strategy, enhancing observability, and ensuring the seamless operation of our data replication and archival processes. Roles and Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and manage AWS MSK (Managed Streaming for Apache Kafka) and Confluent Kafka environments.
- Set up and configure multi-cloud architectures, hosting on both public and private cloud platforms.
- Build infrastructure from scratch, focusing on the reliability, availability, and security of cloud-native applications.
- Implement monitoring and observability solutions using tools such as Dynatrace and AWS CloudWatch to ensure high availability and performance of services.
- Develop and maintain dashboards, alerts, and automated responses to system health metrics and incidents.
- Deploy and manage containerised applications using Docker and Kubernetes.
- Design and implement scalable and secure container orchestration strategies, including automated scaling, self-healing, and service discovery.
- Oversee data replication and archival processes to ensure data integrity, availability, and compliance.
- Optimise data workflows and implement strategies for efficient data handling across cloud environments.
- Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines to automate the software delivery process, ensuring quick and reliable deployment of applications and services.
- Collaborate with development teams to integrate automated testing, continuous integration, and continuous delivery practices.
- Implement best practices for securing infrastructure, including network security, IAM (Identity and Access Management), and data encryption.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations related to cloud security and data protection.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including developers, architects, and security engineers, to deliver high-quality solutions.
- Provide support and troubleshooting for infrastructure-related issues, performing root cause analysis and implementing fixes.
- Proven experience with AWS MSK/Confluent and Kafka.
- Strong expertise in multi-cloud environments, including public and private cloud hosting.
- Hands-on experience with observability and monitoring tools such as Dynatrace and AWS CloudWatch.
- Proficiency in containerisation and orchestration technologies, particularly Kubernetes and Docker.
- Solid understanding of CI/CD tools and practices, including Jenkins, GitLab CI, or similar.
- Experience with data replication, data archival, and managing large-scale data pipelines.
- Strong scripting skills (Python, Bash, or similar) for automation and system management.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a focus on system reliability and security.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Certifications in AWS, Kubernetes, or other relevant technologies.
- Experience with Terraform or other Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools.
- Familiarity with DevSecOps practices and integrating security into CI/CD pipelines.
