You will serve as a SUPERVISORY FIREFIGHTER in the Naval Support Activity Bahrain, Fire and Emergency Services Department (NSAB F&ESD) of NAVSUPPACT BAHRAIN. *It is required the incumbent have the following IFSAC or Pro Board certifications at the time of their appointment to this position*:

  1. Firefighter I
  2. Firefighter II
  3. Driver/Operator - Pumper
  4. Fire Officer III
  5. Incident Safety Officer
  6. Fire Inspector II
  7. Fire Instructor II
  8. Hazardous Materials Technician
  9. Hazardous Materials Incident Commander
  10. Airport Firefighter
  11. Marine Firefighter
  12. FEMA ICS 300 and 400
  13. A valid, current license as Emergency Medical Technician listed in a State or the National Registry (NREMT) to at least the EMT level
I have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-09) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing the following duties:
  1. Directing Fire Department operations involving structural, shipboard firefighting and crash/fire/rescue operations involving toxic, biological material, and conventional ordnance;
  2. Initiating emergency scene management, emergency medical and fire protection and prevention instructions, regulations, codes, surveys, reports and procedures for optimum success of all emergency programs;
  3. Demonstrating the latest technical developments in fire protection (i.e. equipment, systems, services and supply) to achieve and maintain operational readiness;
  4. Evaluating equipment and supply readiness to determine if items need repair or replacement.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: This position is not covered under Special Retirement Coverage for firefighters. It is strongly recommended that current SRC firefighters contact the Civilian Benefits Center to determine potential impacts to your retirement benefits. This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required. This is a 72 hour workweek. You may be subject to recall during natural disasters or other such emergency situations. This position requires the employee to work under adverse environmental conditions and falls under the respiratory protection program and hearing conservation program. The incumbent may be required to wear a respirator or self-contained breathing apparatus and shall pass an annual firefighter physical examination. The Office of the Secretary of Defense (Personnel and Readiness) limits the number of Bahrain based DoD personnel accompanied tours. Dependent entry approval from Commander, U.S. Naval Forces Central Command is required for all accompanied tours prior to extending the final job offer and prior to issuing Permanent Change of Station (PCS) orders.
