The Department of Biomedical Sciences at Cornell University in Ithaca, NY is seeking an exceptional tenure-track faculty member at the rank of assistant or associate professor whose area of research is focused on understanding thecontributions of the tumor microenvironment (TME) to any major aspect of cancer biology , including but not limited to tumor initiation, survival, progression, metastasis, immunotherapy, drug resistance, and recurrence.
We are seeking a candidate who will apply innovative approaches to explore any aspect of the TME as it pertains to a variety of disease-relevant topics, including but not limited to early detection, DNA damage, metabolic rewiring, ECM remodeling, immunoregulation, angiogenesis, intravasation and extravasation, metastatic dormancy and outgrowth, response to therapies, precision medicine, and health disparities. Approaches used can include molecular genetics, epigenetics, functional multi-omics, computational biology, cutting-edge technologies for resolving spatial architecture, stem cell techniques, tissue engineering, state-of-the-art imaging, and animal models. Focus may be on tumor cells, non-tumor cells, and/or intercellular communication and interactions that affect disease state.
The position provides opportunity for 80% research, 15% teaching, and 5% service. The successful candidate will be joining a rich community of cancer biologists in the department and across the entire university. Individuals with clinical activities may be candidates for joint appointments within the College of Veterinary Medicine or Weill Cornell Medicine (in New York City). Faculty in the Department of Biomedical Sciences are robustly funded through various mechanisms including federal agencies such as the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and Department of Defense (DoD); public organizations and associations such as the American Cancer Society (ACS) and the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR); multiple large and small private foundations; as well as internally funded awards through centers and programs at Cornell University. We are a highly interactive group, with a strong history of partnerships across campus and with Weill Cornell Medicine, including multi-investigator federal grants and joint appointments.
The Department of Biomedical Sciences serves as a home for several campus-wide initiatives relevant to this position, including the Center for Vertebrate Genomics (CVG), the Cancer Metabolism Focus Group (CMFG), the Cornell Reproductive (CoRe) Sciences Center, the DNA replication, recombination and repair (R3) group, among others. Required qualifications:
Ph.D. or equivalent degree in a relevant discipline with post-doctoral experience
Evidence of research productivity

Dedication to mentorship and investment in the next generation of scientists
Commitment to collegiality, and strong communication and interpersonal skills with students, staff, and faculty
The salary range for this position is $135,000 - $239,000 and will be commensurate with academic credentials and experience.
