Looking for Impact? This Job’s for You

Vitals is a market leader in the Shopify ecosystem. Every month, 150 million shoppers use our tools on more than 30,000 stores worldwide. Our all-in-one app helps merchants to increase sales & grow their stores by optimizing every step of the purchase flow. Our app has a perfect score of 5/5 out of 8,800 reviews on the Shopify App Store. We’re proud to say we’re a bootstrapped company. That means we don’t have to please anyone except our customers. No vanity slides, no stakeholder management, no fluff. All action. And now, we’re searching for a VP of Engineering to lead and elevate our engineering efforts. If you’re a driven technical leader obsessed with efficient delivery, challenging the status quo, and getting things done, this role is perfect for you.

About the Role

As VP of Engineering, you'll lead a team of 20+ talented engineers. You will play a crucial part in setting the tone for our engineering culture while setting up pragmatic processes. Ultimately, your main responsibility is the delivery flow, continuously improving it to enable us to ship relevant improvements and experiments daily. Part of it is ensuring that all requests (feature requests, growth experiments, support tickets) are handled effectively and promptly. You’ll be responsible for:
  1. Owning the delivery pipeline: From idea to deployment & measuring KPIs, set up processes that ensure consistent, high-quality delivery.
  2. Hands-on technical guidance: Be involved in the codebase, as you'll need strong expertise in PHP and JavaScript. Our backend runs on Symfony and PHP 8, while our frontend uses TypeScript and React/Preact.
  3. Infrastructure: Oversee our infrastructure on AWS, including Lambda, SQS, ElastiCache, EC2, Elastic Beanstalk, and RDS.
  4. Instilling best practices: Ensure code quality is top-notch by leading code reviews, establishing coding standards, and developing testing strategies.
  5. Encouraging ownership & autonomy: Empower your team to make decisions, improve developer experience, and remove bottlenecks to ship improvements rapidly.

What We're Looking For

  1. 10+ years of experience in engineering roles, with 3+ years in leadership positions.
  2. Strong technical background in both PHP (preferably Symfony) and JavaScript.
  3. Solid understanding of AWS services and how to optimize for scalability and performance.
  4. A bias for action and ability to handle ambiguity in a fast-paced startup environment.
  5. Track record of building and leading high-performing teams that deliver.
  6. Comfortable with trade-offs and pragmatic decision-making; you focus on delivery over perfection.
  7. Experience with remote teams and excellent communication skills to keep everyone aligned.

What We Offer

  1. 100% remote forever – work from anywhere that works for you (EMEA time zone).
  2. Competitive salary and a budget for your home-office setup.
  3. Bootstrapped and profitable: You’re joining a company with stability and freedom to grow.
  4. Opportunity to have a direct impact on shaping the future of e-commerce.
  5. A collaborative team culture that values transparency, ownership, and diversity.

Ready to Join Us?

If you’re a proactive leader ready to go the extra mile for better results, rock the boat when needed, and drive a culture of excellence and delivery, we’d love to hear from you! Let’s build the future of e-commerce together!#J-18808-Ljbffr
