Our client is a leading Heavy Civils & Infrastructure company who is currently recruiting for an Intermediate and Senior Civils Estimator in Mississauga and North York. This position will appeal to a highly competitive, results-oriented individual who aspires to advance their career in construction by accepting a key role in the development of our company's project management/estimating team working on new and existing business contacts throughout the region working on private and municipal projects.

Reporting to the President, this position involves estimating commercial, industrial and civil construction ranging in size from $, to $ MILLION dollar values. Types of projects include:

Heavy Civils

Sanitary and Sewer works

Structures

Bridge and Dam

Water Treatment Plants

The Senior Estimator will be used to working in a fast-paced office and will be responsible for the timely and accurate completion of tenders from initiation through to tender closing. As my client does not self-perform, you will have to be experienced in selling out works to sub-contractors also. Must be a bid/tender closing expert managing multiple tenders weekly.

Senior Civils Estimator Qualifications:

Post-secondary degree/diploma in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or related field plus 3 to 5 years experience working in the construction industry within a general contracting environment.

Experience in concrete, earthworks and structural steel are required.

Gold Seal Certification in Estimating and/or Project Management is preferred.

Role Summary:

Work collaboratively with other civil estimators, as well as the entire estimating team (mechanical and electrical estimators).

Effectively prepare and develop cost codes for Operations.

Complete take-off's on all trades (quantity and costs) including labour, materials and equipment (except for mechanical and electrical disciplines).

Analyze subcontractor scope and select most complete and competitive price.

Complete tender form and close a tender on closing day, effectively and in a timely manner.

Ability to understand the workings and sequencing of a project including construction schedule, tie-in and shut-downs.

Meet tender closing deadlines and perform effectively on the day of bid close under tight schedules.

Manage multiple tenders at one time.

Obtain and negotiate best possible pricing from suppliers and subcontractors within company code of ethics.

Ability to review drawings and specifications to extract complete scope of work.

Position Requirements:

Must possess a relevant Post Secondary Diploma/Degree and/or a trade certification with + 5 years of estimating experience in heavy civil earthworks and concrete.

Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and Outlook).

Experience with Primavera P6 would be an asset.

Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Demonstrate strong organizational, leadership and communication skills.

Proven ability to problem-solve using a variety of creative methods.

Team-oriented with the ability to work independently, while displaying strong time management skills.

Effective negotiation and diplomacy skills.
