The RCB seeks to appoint a permanent Financial Accountant to its Finance & IT Department. The person appointed should have the ability to work flexibly across the entire finance function and have strong knowledge of financial applications, with an interest in developing super user skills. The Representative Church Bodyor RCB,is the major trustee body for the Church of Ireland. It holds a substantial portfolio of funds and properties in trust on behalf of the RCB and on behalf of parishes, dioceses and other trust funds of the Church of Ireland throughout the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. The RCBs offices are located at Church of Ireland House in Rathmines, Dublin 6. The RCBs operates a number of functions which include Finance & IT, Investments, Property & Trusts, Legal, Synod & Communications, RCB Library, Education, Safeguarding & ministerial training. The Finance & IT Department encompasses a broad range of activities which incorporates financial reporting and accounts, investment accounting, treasury management, pension administration and payroll services to the wider Church, and information technology services. The core management information systems include Agresso Milestone 7.10 which supports financial reporting and accounting and ResourceLink which supports pension administration and payroll management. The Finance & IT department support a number of RCB committees, which include Audit & Risk Committee, Allocations (Budgeting & Finance) Committee, Stipend Committee, Investment Committee, the Executive (Board) Committee, Clergy Pension Trustee Company, Clergy Pension Board and a number of external professional pension trustees. The Finance & IT department also support the work of the wider church and engage with Church of Ireland Parishes and Dioceses. Reporting Reporting to the Head of Finance & IT and working closely with the Accounts/Finance Manager and Investment Administration Manager. Key responsibilities include: Preparation of annual statutory accounts Responding to financial inquiries Supporting with year-end audits and close out Preparation of monthly & quarterly financial reporting Monthly & quarterly financial controls & reconciliations (banks accounts, debtors, creditors etc) Assisting in the preparation of the annual budget Assisting in the preparation of quarterly forecasts Investment administration and fund accounting Supporting with month end investment valuations Providing cover for accounts payable Preparing reports for committees and other departments Supporting with the completion of internal audit reports Assisting with audit compliance and internal control responsibilities Supporting systems and upgrade projects Undertaking special work assignments and research Ad-hoc duties to support the Head of Finance and the wider entire Finance team Other duties consistent with the job title may be assigned from time to time Candidate Profile: A primary degree & / or equivalent professional qualification, preferably in a business-related discipline An accountancy qualification gained from a recognised professional accountants association (ACA, ACCA, CPA, CIMA) One to two years post qualification experience would be desirable. Ability to work to strict deadlines. Strong knowledge of accounting practices Strong IT skills including proficient use of MS Office 365 Strong application skills (Financial/Accounting systems, Payroll) Strong attention to detail Strong collaboration & organisation skills Strong written and oral communication skills, including the ability to present finding and recommendations An understanding of Charities SORP would be desirable A strong interest in working in the notforprofit sector The right to work in the Republic of Ireland To apply, please send a cover letter and a copy of your CV, showing how you meet the requirements, to by 5.00 p.m. on Friday 18th October 2024.
