You have mature communication skills and the emotional intelligence that enable you to constructively work with others and achieve mutually desired outcomes.Along with relevant education and accomplished experience in the field of environmental technology and or biology, you are intuitive to seeing opportunities when it comes to relationship and business development. You are cautious, careful, well organized and a lifelong learner always seeking improvement.THE POSITIONThe Environmental Specialist / Biologist role will preferably be located in the Peace Region and work out of CPP's office located in Grande Prairie, Alberta. The position reports to one of the Partners but will be quite operationally independent. The individual provides guidance to a multidisciplinary team of professionals on several diverse projects that could be occurring concurrently and will be responsible for producing technical work within their respective discipline.Project management, client relations, data collection, data analysis, and technical writing are key functions. Service deliverables may include fish and wildlife assessments, construction supervision and environmental monitoring, fish salvage, bird nest and wildlife sweeps, Environmental Construction Operations (ECO) Plan development, water quality sampling, wetland assessments, riparian assessments, development and implementation of reclamation/restoration projects, and other pre-disturbance assessments (soils, vegetation, fish and wildlife).QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTSA Bachelor's or Master's degree in natural sciences or related Diploma with considerable relevant years' experience.5-10+ years of progressive experience in related environmental/natural resource management roles.Designation as a Qualified Aquatic Environmental Specialist (QAES) would be an asset.Qualify for membership in the Alberta Society of Professional Biologists.Experience with sediment and erosion control plans - CPESC designation is an asset.Experience with wetland assessments will be considered an asset.Experience with wildlife assessments will be considered an asset.Experience with soils assessments will be considered an asset.Experience with vegetation assessments will be considered an asset.Contribute as an integral part of the CPP Environmental team.A strong working knowledge of Provincial and Federal regulatory requirements.Manage client files and projects including staffing resources and project budgets.Maintain and ensure high quality service/product delivery.Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in the applicable area of expertise.Provide technical direction to staff and clients.Technical and professional writing (editing, proofreading and quality control on formal submissions and external documentation).Ensure compliance with Health, Safety and Environmental Policies, Programs etc. in support of safe workplaces.Ensure projects are 'closed out' cross-checking that all required tasks are complete.Provide project reports and updates for external and internal purposes, as required.Provide mentorship to junior staff.Good problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.Excellent communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills.Ability to work on projects independently and on many projects simultaneously.Able to deal with highly sensitive issues and maintain confidentiality in a professional manner.Have a collaborative approach and solution-driven.Strong project management skills - ability to track and administer workflows and provide updates relative to project requirements.Possess a valid Alberta driver license.First Aid, CPR, ATV, Snowmobile, H2S and Ground Disturbance certificates are desirable.COMPENSATIONCompensation will be commensurate upon experience and skills, consisting of an annual salary plus a benefits package. Annual bonus remunerations are considered based on annual earnings.
