Your Role:

We are currently seeking an Intermediate Electrical Engineer for our Mississauga, Ontario office. The engineer will work under the general supervision of a Team Leader or Manager, responsible for performing a variety of engineering assignments. The requirements for this position listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Responsibilities:

Perform all engineering work of electrical nuclear projects at different lifecycle stages (conceptual, preliminary or detail).

Perform electrical calculations including equipment sizing system performance quantities.

Carry out electrical design for an existing or new facility including general arrangement, installation details, electrical control and protection schematics, wiring diagrams, and bill of materials in accordance with local and client regulations.

Be responsible for the correctness, quality, and cost-effectiveness of all electrical work on assigned projects.

Stay current with applicable Department, Discipline, and Project procedures. Assist project Leaders and Managers with definition and monitoring of work scopes, deliverables, schedules, and budget. Maintain effective customer contact to enhance working relationships. Coordinate with the Discipline manager to conduct peer reviews of deliverables as required. Ensure that required reviews and approvals are provided and documented. Engage Discipline Senior Engineers as required and mentor junior engineers. Recommend to the Discipline manager the need to engage outside engineering consultants/specialists, as required; direct and remain responsible for the project related work of these consultants.

Qualifications:

University degree in Electrical Engineering and PEO membership.

5+ years of working experience in Electrical Engineering is considered an asset.

Experience in an engineering consulting firm is considered an asset.

Preferably has previous experience in nuclear, power generation, transmission and distribution, consulting engineering fields and renewables/sustainable industries.

Must be willing to travel to Bruce Power Nuclear Plant (Tiverton, ON) on an as required basis. Experience in the design of electrical facilities at low, medium, and high voltage. This includes:

- Cable sizing and routing methods.

- Equipment sizing.

- Equipment arrangement.

- Electrical protection and control schematics.

- Installation details.

- Grounding.

- Wiring Diagrams.

- Strong knowledge and application of the Canadian Electrical Code, CSA and IEEE standards.

Experience in the analysis of power systems. This includes:

- Selection of protection devices, including circuit breakers and relays.

- Overcurrent protection coordination, short circuit, load flow, and motor starting studies using ETAP.

- Protective relay programming.

Specification of electrical equipment and technical evaluation of vendor offering. Understanding of commissioning requirements. Working experience in the study, technical knowledge, and design expertise of electrical distribution systems for the power industry will be considered a huge asset. Working experience in a consulting environment will be considered an asset.
