About the job STRUCTURAL ENGINEERS (DESIGN)PURPOSE OF THE JOB:Structural Design Engineer with High-Speed Rail Experience is responsible for designing and analyzing structural elements and systems for high-speed rail infrastructure projects. This role involves collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to develop innovative and cost-effective structural solutions that meet project requirements, safety standards, and regulatory codes. The engineer will contribute to the successful delivery of high-speed rail projects by applying engineering principles, advanced analysis techniques, and industry best practices.JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:Structural Design: Design and analyze various structural elements and systems, including bridges, viaducts, tunnels, and other railway infrastructure components, using engineering software and manual calculations.Conceptualization: Develop conceptual and detailed design solutions for high-speed rail structures, considering factors such as loading conditions, environmental impacts, and aesthetic requirements.Technical Specifications: Prepare technical specifications, design criteria, and construction documents for structural components in accordance with project requirements, industry standards, and regulatory guidelines.Material Selection: Select appropriate materials for structural elements based on performance requirements, durability, and cost-effectiveness, considering factors such as seismic resilience and environmental sustainability.Safety and Compliance: Ensure that structural designs comply with applicable safety regulations, building codes, and industry standards, including those specific to high-speed rail infrastructure (e.g., EN 1991, AASHTO LRFD).Quality Assurance: Perform quality checks and reviews of design drawings and calculations to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with project specifications and contractual requirements.Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Collaborate with architects, civil engineers, mechanical engineers, and other stakeholders to integrate structural designs with overall project plans and ensure coordination across disciplines.Value Engineering: Identify opportunities for value engineering and optimization of structural designs to enhance performance, reduce costs, and minimize environmental impact while maintaining project objectives.Risk Management: Identify potential risks and vulnerabilities in structural designs and propose mitigation measures to ensure safety, reliability, and resilience of high-speed rail infrastructure.Documentation and Reporting: Prepare technical reports, design documentation, and presentations to communicate structural design concepts, analyses, and recommendations to project stakeholders, regulatory agencies, and the public as needed.KEY QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field; Master's degree preferred.Years of experience in structural design, with a focus on high-speed rail or transportation infrastructure projects.Proficiency in structural analysis software such as SAP2000, STAAD.Pro, or similar tools.Strong understanding of structural engineering principles, theories, and practices related to high-speed rail infrastructure.Familiarity with relevant design codes and standards, such as Eurocodes, AASHTO LRFD, and AREMA.Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines concurrently.Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification preferred.VERTICAL: ENGINEERING
