The position supports the mission of Combined Task Force FIVE NINE (CTF-59), subordinate to Commander, United States Naval Forces Central (CUSNC) and Commander, U.S. FIFTH Fleet (C5F). CTF-59 works with government organizations, industry, and academia to field unmanned systems (UxS) integrated with artificial intelligence (AI) to support Maritime Domain Awareness (MDA) across the FIFTH Fleet area of responsibility (AOR). CTF-59 aims to provide a holistic approach to the integration of UxS and AI, vertically from seabed to space and horizontally across Task Forces, the Joint Force, and with international partners, to deliver a tactical advantage to the warfighter.Major Duties and Responsibilities
- Research, evaluate, and scope employment of artificial intelligence, machine learning, computer vision, and data analysis solutions into CUSNC operations.
Additional Duties and Responsibilities
- Advise CTF-59 on relevant research and analytical studies that can be applied to support critical operational problems. Inform leadership on technical tools, methodologies, and resources used for conducting studies and analyzing operationally relevant information. Identify operational test objectives, define requirements, metrics, measures of effectiveness, and expected outcomes. Apply advanced operations research and data science techniques for quantitative analysis, forecasting, predictive modeling, prescriptive analysis, and optimization.
Position Experience and Knowledge Required
- Professional knowledge and mastery of advanced artificial intelligence, machine learning, computer vision, and data analysis.
- Experience employing industry standard technologies including Amazon Web Services, PyTorch, Docker, and PostgreSQL. Experience coordinating data transmission pipelines across multiple organizations along with integrating human-in-the-loop artificial intelligence models.
- Work will be performed in a hybrid manner. The position requires in-person collaboration with CTF-59 personnel along with perspective operational end-users. Additional research and report drafting can be accomplished remotely.
