LocationIntroductionThe Aga Khan University invites applications for the position of Consultant in Emergency Medicine. Chartered in 1983, Aga Khan University, as Pakistan's first private international university, is committed to the provision of education, research, and health care of international standard relevant to Pakistan and the region. The affiliated Aga Khan University Hospital has well-equipped investigative services and provides state-of-the-art clinical facilities.
The Department of Emergency Medicine at the Aga Khan University, Karachi, is the regional leader in establishing high-quality clinical service and academic programs. The current clinical facility consists of 60 beds including fast track, separate adult and pediatric emergency units, cardiac emergency, a clinical decision unit, resuscitation rooms, isolation rooms, and triage. The main Emergency Department (ED) provides care to over 70,000 patients a year. Most patients require complex medical and surgical/trauma care. In addition, the department supervises a satellite urgent care center.
ResponsibilitiesThe consultant (non-fulltime) will have an independent consultant status as on-call faculty with clinical responsibilities, encompassing pediatric emergency medicine. The consultant physician will work collaboratively with other departments to strengthen ED throughput and will be supported for ongoing professional development in the field.
RequirementsYou should have:
an MBBS degree with postgraduate qualification i.e. FCPS, American Board, FRCEM, or equivalent qualification.
a valid license from Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC).
minimum three years of experience as Senior Physician / one year of experience as an Instructor, Fellow, or equivalent in a reputable institution.
