The role is accountable for the assessment and execution of a compliant and effective medical underwriting function in telephonic support of mainly sales from a medical underwriting perspective, but it includes support to claims and service functions. Key responsibilities include:
  1. Assess and execute medical underwriting to support telephonic support for sales (main function).
  2. Review of referred underwriting quotes.
  3. Facilitating communication of medical declines to clients.
  4. QAC/QA referrals.
  5. Client policy amendments with underwriting changes/impact (Servicing).
  6. Claims process (Assisting claims by completing retrospective underwriting).

What will make you successful in this role?

Qualification & experience
  1. Grade 12 or preferably business or commerce degree/diploma.
  2. Experience in financial distribution services/sales/call centre environment.
  3. Experience in processing of new business in a life insurance.
  4. 2-3 years underwriting experience.
  5. Nursing or medical background experience.
Knowledge and skills Business:
  1. Financial services industry knowledge.
  2. Financial services product knowledge.
  3. Relevant regulatory legislation and compliance knowledge.
  4. Policy contracts governances, clauses, cover.
  5. Underwriting processes and guiding principles (advanced).
  6. Medical/health assessment indicators and metrics.
  7. Call Centre and sales processes.
  8. Quality and Risk monitoring processes.
