Role: Cloud FinOps Engineer Location: Pune (Work from office, 5 days a week) Notice Period - Max 15 days Shift time : US EST Shift Job Description: As a Cloud FinOps Engineer, you will be responsible for implementing and managing financial operations related to cloud computing. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including Infrastructure, DevOps, application/engineering and finance, to ensure that our cloud infrastructure and applications are cost-effective, scalable, and optimized for performance. Key Responsibilities: Cost Optimization:
- Collect, monitor, and analyze data, assist with forecasting, demand planning, and make recommendations on cost optimization strategies across different platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, etc.) and provide actionable insights
- Identify area of cost optimization and recommend corrective actions
- Review and enhance existing cost reduction strategies.
- Develop and maintain detailed cloud cost forecasting and budgeting models.
- Monitor cloud spending against budgets and financial goals, providing regular reports to stakeholders.
- Collaborate with the finance team to ensure accurate cloud cost allocation and chargebacks.
- Implement and manage FinOps tools for monitoring, alerting, and automating cloud cost management.
- Create dashboards and reports to visualize cloud usage and costs for various stakeholders.
- Develop scripts and automation processes to streamline cloud cost management activities.
- Stay up to date with the latest trends and advancements in cloud technology and financial management.
- Establish and enforce cloud cost governance policies and best practices.
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations and internal policies regarding cloud spend.
- Collaborate with security and compliance teams to manage risks related to cloud costs.
- Work closely with DevOps and engineering teams to understand their cloud requirements and provide guidance on cost-effective solutions.
- Conduct training sessions and workshops to educate teams on cloud cost management best practices.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with cloud service providers.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, SW Engineering with 5+ years’ experience in a public cloud and SaaS environments; MS CS or SW Engineering with 3+ years hands-on experience.
- Expertise in the cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) service architecture and their cost structures.
- Experience with FinOps practices and tools (e.g., CloudHealth, Cloudability, AWS Cost Explorer).
- Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash, etc) for automation.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, debugging, presentation and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in global cross-functional teams.
- Hands-on cloud development and DevOps experience with a deep understanding of cloud-based services usage and pricing.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strategic thinking with a customer-centric mindset and a strong focus on delivering measurable results.
- FinOps Certified Practitioner or similar certification is a plus.
