Job Summary

We are currently seeking an experienced Advanced Process Control Engineer to join our Global Manufacturing Excellence (GME) under the Assets Technical Solutions Department (ATSD). At GME, we offer top-notch technical support to refineries, NGLF, and petrochemical plants owned by this company and its affiliates worldwide. As an APC expert, your main responsibility will be to provide expert guidance and support to optimize operations using Advanced Process Control technologies such as DMC3, PACE, or Profit Suite. You will lead improvement initiatives for all operating departments within our Global Manufacturing Portfolio.

Responsibilities:

  1. Streamline Advanced Process Control (APC) objectives with corporate goals and develop programs, best practices, and monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to enhance APC and economic performance.
  2. Analyze data from various sources including process variables, instrumentation, and control systems to identify improvement opportunities.
  3. Develop inferential models (linear and nonlinear) to enhance refinery operations efficiency and cost reduction.
  4. Implement APC strategies, conduct feasibility studies, and establish new business cases to optimize refinery operations and maximize desired product yields.
  5. Conduct pilots and evaluate new APC technologies such as Real-Time optimization, Machine Learning, and AI to contribute to yield improvement.
  6. Analyze chronic problems and debottleneck complex APC to enhance process operations and economic benefits.
  7. Provide subject matter expertise to operating facilities Operations, Maintenance, and Engineering teams through consulting awareness sessions and participation in technical exchanges and conferences.
  8. Lead technical sessions such as design reviews, model reviews, and commissioning.
  9. Conduct periodic assessments and evaluations to gauge the performance and effectiveness of real-time optimization solutions.
  10. Collaborate closely with the optimization team (Real-Time optimization engineers, Simulation engineers, and automation engineers) to ensure optimization requirements are met.
  11. Lead pre- and post-performance baseline evaluations for APC technologies.
  12. Monitor economic benefit Key Performance Indicators and provide recommendations.
  13. Review standards and General Instructions on behalf of the GME departments and act as a leading Subject Matter Expert (SME).

Requirements:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field is required.
  2. Minimum of 10 years of experience in Advanced Process Control (APC).
  3. Demonstrated expertise in APC control systems and OPC communication.
  4. Comprehensive understanding of refinery economics, mass, and energy balances is essential.
  5. Familiarity with international standards and specifications for advanced process control.
  6. Exceptional analytical and troubleshooting skills in the field of advanced process control.
  7. Strong leadership skills to effectively manage technical discussions and guide technical teams.
  8. Working knowledge of oil/gas-related plant processes is preferred.
