Units Campus: St. George (Downtown Toronto) Position Number: 00033932 About us: The Engineering Student Recruitment & Outreach Office promotes interest in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) and is the first point of contact for students and their families interested in pursuing an education at Canada’s top engineering school. Our Outreach team designs and delivers innovative pre-university outreach programs and builds awareness of the different areas of engineering and their societal roles. The dynamic team supports prospective students and their families throughout the application and admissions cycle, facilitating a smooth transition into the Engineering program. Your opportunity: Working under the general direction of the Associate Registrar & Director, Engineering Student Recruitment & Outreach, the incumbent is part of the Faculty of Applied Science & Engineering’s central team who designs and delivers innovative pre-university outreach programs, focusing on creating excitement around STEM education for a wide audience, from grades 3 through high school and beyond. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading the development of operational policies, procedures, and best practices for the program, and making recommendations for improvements.
  • Overseeing the delivery, space, and resources for programs and workshops.
  • Tracking and analyzing program metrics to drive continuous service improvements and assess program efficiency and student learning outcomes.
  • Implementing program improvements, maintaining program standards, and liaising with stakeholders and partners.
  • Analyzing service delivery and internal processes, recommending and implementing improvements.
  • Providing proactive support to individuals in distress, making referrals to university services as needed.
  • Monitoring program accounts and generating standard financial reports.
  • Preparing budget variance reports and overseeing the activities of a team of staff members performing similar functions.
Essential Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
  • Six to seven years experience developing and leading policies and programs for equity-seeking populations.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience developing and/or leading projects that promote post-secondary STEM education.
  • Proven experience building and strengthening relationships with community stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of secondary and university level education and programs.
  • Demonstrated experience in program development, execution, and evaluation, focusing on diversity, access, and inclusion.
  • Proficiency in creating metrics, gathering and analyzing data, and identifying trends.
  • Ability to make sound judgments and provide appropriate options and solutions in a timely manner.
  • Skilled in handling sensitive or confidential information with tact and diplomacy.
  • Ability to prioritize competing demands and exercise a high degree of initiative.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Intermediate skills with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Effective in working independently and collaboratively.
