Full time at Artillery Software Inc in Ireland
Posted on September 14, 2024

Job details

At Artillery we are working hard to build better tools for running fast, reliable, and resilient production systems . Our flagship product is an open-source cloud-native load testing solution, which makes it easy to test anything, at any scale, and from your own AWS infrastructure. It’s used by thousands of engineers around the world every day to help them ship systems that scale. We are a small team of builders with backgrounds in product design, SRE, and software engineering at companies like Pitch, Marley Spoon, Mercado Libre, DAZN, and Conde Nast. We are a remote-first team with people in Ireland, Germany, Uruguay and USA. We raised funding from Y Combinator, a top-tier US VC, and a handful of ex and current-founder angels (we can tell you who on the call, the round has not been publicly announced yet). We have a good runway, and paying customers who love our product.

About You

This opportunity is right for you if: You love to build, create, and - most importantly - ship. You love to build software and products, and you’re also excited about helping building Artillery’s culture, our product development process, and the team. You enjoy building tools for other developers, and you’re interested in production engineering and production quality. You’re product-oriented and pragmatic. You love building useful software, and your primary motivation is making stuff people want and solving user’s problems, not using a particular tech stack or a particular solution. You want a chance at building something BIG. We’re early in a huge space, and we have a chance to build a category-defining product and company like Snyk, Vercel, Heroku, or HashiCorp.

Culture

We are building a user-centric, pragmatic, product-oriented, and optimistic culture, and a team of people who care deeply about their craft & get things done. As a distributed team we rely heavily on written communication. We aim to write concisely and always with the audience in mind, and apply it across mediums: a commit message is just as important as a Slack message to a teammate, or an issue description in Linear, or an RFC in Notion. We optimize for deep work and try to keep scheduled meetings to a minimum (currently just one recurring team meeting per week plus 1-1s). We are experimenting with making more frequent use of Loom for async updates & demos of work-in-progress. We’re a small team that works hard to punch well above its weight. Everyone wears a lot of hats and we value ability to ship well-engineered high-quality work, taking ownership, continuous learning, and proactive and open communication.

Open Roles

We’re looking for senior level people with deep expertise in their chosen area, and with at least some experience across the entire stack (and eagerness to learn more). We are hiring for new roles only in Ireland or the UK at the moment. Skills & Experience Experience owning delivery of complex projects and initiatives Experience building something from zero to one - perhaps it’s a solo side project you built, or something you built at $WORK as part of a small team

Frontend Engineer

Software Engineer - Core Platform

Cash, of course, and stock options. Cash component is indexed on 70th percentile for similar roles at senior level in NY for hires in the US, and London, UK for everywhere else. Stock options component is above market, with standard 4 years vesting / 1 year cliff terms. We hire through Deel and can offer employee or full-time contractor options 30 paid days off (local public holidays + extra vacation days) Hardware budget - top of the line Mac, home-office budget (HD webcam, quality mic and headphones, standing desk, display mount, etc) Education budget of $1,000/year for conferences, courses, and training Additional local benefits as required (e.g. healthcare in the US)

How We Hire

We’re skeptical of resumes and don’t trust typical interview processes. We respect career experience at FAANG-type companies but are conscious of the halo effect. Above all at this stage we look for evidence of ability to go from zero to one, passion for building things, pragmatism and curiosity. Send an email to jobs@artillery.io and we’ll be in touch to arrange the initial chat. Tell us why you’re excited to join Artillery Please tell us about the most interesting & high-impact thing you’ve built and any side projects you may have. Include a link to something interesting you read recently (blog post, research paper, book etc) Tell about a piece of software you really love or that really influenced how you approach building software Include links to blog, GitHub, side projects if relevant Initial ~45m chat. This is where you meet the founder and another member of the team and we answer any questions you may have and we sell you the role and the opportunity. The main goal here is to make sure we’re on the same page. Small work-sample challenge. This is expected to take no longer than 60 minutes of focused time to complete, at your convenience. This will most likely involve: Comprehending an existing piece of code and telling us how you’d solve some problem In-depth interview - 90-120 minutes, we’ll work through a couple of real-world engineering / design problems you may come across as a member of the Artillery team. No trick or puzzle questions, or leetcode-style problems. We will also spend some time diving into more of the work you’ve done in the past. Reference calls - we will run this in parallel with steps 3-4. We’ll ask for two people you’ve worked with in the past that we can have a 15m chat with to help us understand your working style and preferences and what we can do to enable you to do your best work on this team. We send a formal offer letter. At Artillery we strongly believe that the most diverse and inclusive teams build the world’s best products and companies. As an equal opportunity employer, we do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, ancestry, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, marital status, religion or lack thereof, disability status, or previous professional or educational background. #J-18808-Ljbffr
