Software Engineer III, BackEnd

Galway Office Rent The Runway established its European Technology Hub in Galway in April 2019. Based in the historic Claddagh area of the city, the growing team in Galway tackles core technology challenges and influences the next generation of services critical to Rent The Runway’s success and continued growth. Our engineering team is smart, pragmatic, and entrepreneurial. About the Role: You’ll be working with the Commerce Services Engineering Team focused on services responsible for e-commerce and order management functionality. You’ll improve the architecture, functionality, quality and continuous delivery of the service and its subsystems. You’ll build robust services that uphold the financial integrity of our commerce data. What You’ll Do:

• Participate in all aspects of agile software development including design, implementation, and deployment for the user interface of internal tools that power our back-of-house systems.
• Find architectural and internal design improvements to enable rapid growth in traffic and order volumes.
• Our engineering team works in the following stack of technologies which you will have the opportunity to deepen or upskill your knowledge: Java, Kotlin, MySql, Mongo, RabbitMQ/Kinesis, Spring Boot, Bootstrap, Splunk, Splunk Cloud, SignalFX, GCP.
• Deliver software on a sustainable schedule that keeps work-life balance in mind.
• You’ll work to evolve our e-commerce platform, building clear domain models of orders, invoices, and payments.
• You’ll ensure financial data is clean, complete, accurate and delivered to downstream systems.
• You’ll build intuitive and well-tested APIs for manipulating orders post-checkout.
• Work with business stakeholders to identify software solutions to business challenges.
• Experience working as part of a cross-functional development team.

• Degree in computer science, software engineering and/or 3+ years of programming experience.
• Professional experience with OOP concepts and design patterns using Java/Kotlin SQL, with Hibernate or other JPA vendor framework advantageous.
• Able to learn new tools and technologies quickly.
• Exceptional communication skills.
