Exciting opportunity to influence decision makers at the highest level to enhance the performance and value of our Crown financial institutions. We're the Government's economic and financial advisor, working hard to raise the standard of living for everyone in Aotearoa, now and in the future. Our Commercial and Institutional Performance: Investment team is one of four teams in the Commercial Performance and Governance Directorate, which provides ownership, performance, and governance advice for commercially and financially focused Crown-owned entities, including the Crown's largest financial institutions. As Manager CIP: Investment, you will be responsible for the relationship with the New Zealand Superannuation Fund, ACC's investment function, Natural Hazards Commission Toka Tū Ake, and other investment and pension entities managing assets valued at over $100bn. You will lead a team of nine specialists and a team assistant. Key responsibilities will include:
  • Ensuring your team develops and delivers impactful advice that informs and influences government decisions.
  • Providing sound intellectual and people leadership to lift capability.
  • Building effective relationships with senior government and Crown entity stakeholders.
  • Influencing decision makers while connecting issues and being aware of changing environments.
  • Working collaboratively with other managers to deliver a strengthened centre of entity performance expertise.
  • Clear communication of complex information to decision makers.
  • Strong commercial financial experience with an understanding of investment, risk, and return drivers.
  • A strategic leader who inspires others with a vision and creates a path to success.
  • Authentic, inclusive, and passionate leadership with a proven ability to develop talent.
  • Self-starter with initiative who brings unique perspectives and fresh ideas.
  • Exceptional relationship management skills to engage with senior decision makers.
  • Resilience to operate effectively in a fast-paced, changeable environment.
