Sobha Constructions is a fast-growing construction company in the Middle East with a vision to be a pioneer in redefining the quality standards in construction. We are looking to hire a seasoned leader who can work in a fast-paced environment and efficiently draw look-ahead plans. Job Summary: The General Manager, Strategic Procurement, will lead the procurement function, ensuring the efficient and cost-effective acquisition of materials, services, and equipment necessary for the company’s construction projects. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong leadership skills, extensive experience in procurement, and a deep understanding of the construction industry. Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with the company’s goals and objectives.
  2. Identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
  3. Conduct market analysis to stay informed about industry trends and supplier capabilities.
  4. Establish and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and vendors.
  5. Negotiate contracts, terms, and conditions to ensure favorable outcomes for the company.
  6. Monitor supplier performance and address any issues or discrepancies.
  7. Lead and mentor the procurement team, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
  8. Set performance goals and conduct regular evaluations.
  9. Provide training and development opportunities to enhance team skills and knowledge.
  10. Oversee the procurement process, from requisition to delivery, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
  11. Manage the procurement budget and track expenditures.
  12. Implement and maintain procurement software and systems for efficiency and transparency.
  13. Identify and mitigate risks associated with procurement activities.
  14. Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
  15. Develop contingency plans to address potential supply chain disruptions.
  16. Work closely with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to understand project requirements and timelines.
  17. Coordinate with finance and legal departments to ensure alignment on procurement activities.
Qualifications:
  1. Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Mechanical/Electrical Engineering; Master in Supply Chain Management or a related field is preferred.
  2. Minimum of 14-16 years of experience, with at least 8-10 years in Strategic Procurement and in a leadership role within the construction industry.
  3. Strong negotiation and contract management skills.
  4. Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  5. Proficiency in procurement software and systems.
  6. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  7. Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
