Job Purpose

We are looking to hire a Specialist in Structural Design. This job role is to execute structural engineering design activities for rig building and MRO projects.

Key Accountabilities & Working Relationships

Key Accountabilities:
  1. Work on 3D Model and/or 2D package following drafting standards, maintaining clarity, quality, and completeness of details.
  2. Perform periodic overall model reviews to assure level of content and participate in 3D model review.
  3. Review for overall completeness, general safety, access and egress, materials handling, maintenance, and operability.
  4. Work with the 3D coordinator to assure project closeout upon completion.
  5. Prepare MTO and perform any designer functions of previous levels.
  6. Ensure interdisciplinary and management review, check, and approval of design deliverables.
  7. Establish company standards and review & update discipline design guidelines and standards.
  8. Plan and schedule team activities and monitor team performance and budget compliance.
  9. Work with customers on conceptual design.
  10. Estimate drawing quantities for design deliverables and develop & maintain drawing list.
  11. Gather and review applicable codes, standards, and supplier requirements to define installation requirements and communicate requirements to the design team.
  12. Review and comment on supplier drawings.
  13. Act as checker on design-related deliverables.
  14. Perform site surveys as necessary.
  15. Supervise project closeout including as-built documentation.
  16. Assist the lead engineer in performance assessment of designers and establishing training needs.
  17. Ensure compliance with customer and company requirements.
  18. Ensure compliance with HSE policies and procedures as applicable.
  19. Ensure compliance with all applicable information security policies & procedures.
Working Relationships: Internal Interactions: Internal Engineering Department, other business work-streams within the company, Division Head - Structural, Engineering Manager. External Interactions: Subcontractors, Consultants, Software Supplier, Inspection Agencies.

Who We Are Looking For

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering Discipline, preferably Mechanical or Civil Engineering. Experience: At least 3-9+ years in any engineering company. Preference will be given to those who have worked in ship and rig building yards, major construction yards, EPC contractors, and/or Consultant Companies using AVEVA 3D modelling software. Professional Qualifications (Certifications & Accreditations): Preferred – Any additional certification/training on CAD tools and systems. Competencies (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities):
  • Conversant with International Codes and Standards, Marine regulations, and Classification rules.
  • Knowledge/Experience in AutoCAD for 2D drafting and/or AVEVA Marine for 3D Hull and structural modeling.
  • Knowledge/Experience in plate/profile nesting and CNC programming is preferable.
  • Demonstrated high order interpersonal skills and ability to operate within a multinational environment.
  • Knowledge/Experience in fabrication/construction/installation engineering of various structures.
