We are looking for a Data Scientist/Sr. Data Scientist to join our BI Team remotely from anywhere in Canada.About the Role:As Data Scientist/Sr. Data Scientist, you will play a key role in bringing machine learning and AI to life at eLocal. Your day-to-day will involve using a variety of machine learning techniques to build, maintain, and operationalize sophisticated data science models. You will be a natural extension of our team of data analysts, leveraging your expertise in statistics and coding to produce optimal business outcomes. You will partner with Engineering to deploy your models to production and monitor their ongoing impact on the business.The ideal candidate will be an experienced data scientist, who has a successful track record of deploying data science models to production. We are looking for a Python expert who is comfortable working with different machine learning libraries and frameworks. The candidate will have also demonstrated material impact on business outcomes using data, ideally in the domains of forecasting, pricing, bidding, and auctions.Responsibilities:Build and design statistical/machine learning models across a variety of use cases, including optimizing bids to maximize profit, forecasting company financial performance, predicting account churn, identifying customer segments, and othersWork with a wide variety of internal and external data sources, partnering with Data Engineering to automate data pipelines and transformationsSupport Engineering team in optimizing, deploying, maintaining, and re-training models, to generate ongoing impact for the businessIn consultation with other members of the BI team, build upon existing analyses to generate new insights for the business, as well as create reports to measure the business outcomes of successfully deployed modelsShare findings and explain complex methodologies to a non-technical audience in easily understood terms, using data-driven insights to influence company strategyAct as the data science SME within the organization, identifying opportunities to apply the latest DS/ML/AI techniques for further process optimization and innovation at eLocalRequirements and Skills:4-7 years working in a data science, machine learning, or advanced analytics roleBachelor’s degree in data science, computer science, statistics, applied mathematics, engineering, or economics. Master’s or PhD preferred.Track record of developing production level data science models that led to measurable business impactKnowledge and understanding of statistical inference, experiment design, probability, sampling methodologies, regression, classification, clustering, data mining, time series analysis, causal inference analysis, and deep learning techniquesHands on experience with ETL, data automation, data processing, and feature engineeringProgramming and coding languages: SQL, Python (including Python-based machine learning frameworks)Visualization tools – Tableau, Power BI etc. Qlik experience is a plus.Prior experience with bidding/pricing/auction models is a huge plus.Grit, accountability, and ownership- you’re willing to go the extra mile with a strong work ethicSelf-directed and resourceful, can think critically, troubleshoot and solve complex problems in a fast-paced, environmentHigh attention to detail while handling projects under deadline pressureWe still use our Philly office for meetings, collaboration, and socializing, but we are proudly a virtual-first environment with employees across North America.
