Job details

Be part of an inclusive team that makes a difference. The Davis Ogilvie team works to:

  • build community resilience to natural hazards and climate change – we’re helping build infrastructure to mitigate future flood events
  • design communities – we’re creating some of the largest land development projects in the South Island for the public and private sector
  • protect New Zealand’s water quality – we’re designing 3-waters systems to enhance the natural environment and to ensure community needs are met.
We have a great opportunity for a geotechnical engineer to join our busy team. You will be part of our geotechnical team of 20 engineers and geologists. The type of work is varied ranging from residential and commercial development to large scale roading and infrastructure projects. This position will be a balance of office and field work and will involve collaboration with our wider team of engineers, surveyors, and planners as well as a range of clients and contractors. The ideal applicant would possess the following skills:
  • a degree qualification in geotechnical engineering or post graduate qualification in engineering geology (or similar)
  • have a minimum of three years of relevant New Zealand experience
  • experience with site investigations and undertaking soil sampling, testing and analysis
  • experience with slope stability analysis, liquefaction studies, retaining walls, foundations, and pile design
  • experience with construction monitoring, supervision, and contractor liaison
  • strong written and verbal communication skills, with an acute attention to detail
  • ability to work well within a team environment.
The successful applicant will be offered excellent remuneration and a great work-life balance. We can offer flexibility to be full time or part time, and could also involve a combination of work within the office and from home if required. This can be discussed further during the interview process.
