Dis-Chem Pharmacies has an opportunity available for an Employee Relations Manager at our Head Office in Midrand to join the team. You will be required to provide expert Labour Relations advice to management, supervisors and employees whilst growing the departmental visibility to give effect to the vision and mission of the Labour Relations department. Minimum Requirements: Essential:
- Grade 12 / Matric
- Qualification in Human Resources Management
- 3 - 5 Years’ experience in Employee Relations Generalist
- Post Graduate Qualification in Human Resource Management, Labour Relations or Industrial Psychology
- Experience as an ER Generalist in Retail or FMCG industry
- Advise the business on best practice in terms of Employee Relations matters and other Legislation that impact on Employee Relations.
- Study, interpret and advise all business units on applicable Labour Legislation and ensure compliance where applicable.
- Ensure the updating, interpretation and implementation of Organization Policies, Procedures and Agreements.
- Prepare and present best practice solutions to the business to minimize risks, including management reporting and benchmarking statistics.
- Conduct research, study, interpret and advise business on new and/or updated Labour Legislation.
- Investigate the financial and other implications of legislative changes in conjunction with the Group Employee Relations manager and other Specialists, and devise and implement solutions to minimize the potential risk.
- Benchmark against best practices and ensure best practice is followed with regard to the Employee relations Framework and practices.
- Maintain current knowledge of tools and best practices within Employee Relations.
- Day to day HR/ IR advice to Managers/ Directors/ Employees.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and objectivity even when dealing with controversial issues.
- Chairing Disciplinary hearings.
- Appearances at the CCMA for inter alia: Con/Arb processes, Conciliations, Arbitrations, In limine’s, Rescission Hearings.
- Dealing with internal grievances (Group and individual).
- Counseling, Evaluation and Training of staff.
- Incapacity Investigations (Poor Work Performance and Ill Health).
- Facilitating Retrenchment procedures.
- Drafting / or perusing of Recognitions agreements/ wage and or any other agreements pertaining to Employee/ Union related matters.
- Strike attendances and settlements.
- Development and presentation of courses (Junior to management level) on Industrial Relations inter alia.
- CCMA preparations and representation during conciliations and/ or arbitrations.
- Store/Head Office preparation for Department of Labour inspections.
- Review and/ or any other relevant litigation work to the Labour Court.
- Formulating and implementing HR policies and/ or procedures.
- Drafting of written correspondence to the Department of Labour.
- Ability to prepare and interpret policies and statistical reports.
- Ability to effectively prepare and efficiently maintain accurate records and reports.
- Ability to plan and coordinate meetings, programs, and activities.
- Knowledge of LRA; BCEA; SDLA; OHSA; COIDA; UIA; UI Contribution Act; SDA and EEA.
